Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Adds Day-One Sequel to Acclaimed 2014 Game

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has added Endless Legend 2 to its content library. This day-one game marks the ninth new title to reach the subscription service in September 2025, as well as the 117th new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate release since the turn of the year.

In September 2014, French developer Amplitude Studios released Endless Legend, a 4X turn-based strategy tasking players with establishing and growing a fantasy empire through conquest, diplomacy, and scientific research. The title ended up being nominated for multiple awards and was met with highly favorable reviews, as underlined by its “Mighty” rating on OpenCritic, derived from an average score of 84 and an 86% reviewer recommendation rate. Nearly a decade later, Amplitude revealed Engless Legend 2 in January 2025, pledging to launch it in early access before the end of the year.

Endless Legend 2 Releases Day One on Xbox Game Pass

That promise was fulfilled earlier today, September 22, when Endless Legend 2 dropped on Steam and the Microsoft Store, as well as Xbox Game Pass. Much like its predecessor, the game is exclusively available on PC. It also lacks Xbox Cloud Gaming support, making desktops truly the only way to play it. Like any other day-one title that makes its way to Microsoft’s subscription service, Endless Legend 2 requires a PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership to access.

When Will Endless Legend 2 Come to Xbox Game Pass Standard?

Day-one titles on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate typically take between six months and a year to reach the Standard tier of the service. However, Endless Legend 2 may not adhere to this pattern because it isn’t certain whether it will be making its way to consoles. Without an Xbox Series X/S port, the game wouldn’t even qualify for an XGP Standard release, as this membership tier isn’t available on PC. The original Endless Legend never made its way to consoles, and is instead only available on Windows and macOS desktops. Its sequel is planned to remain in early access for at least six months.

Looking ahead, four more titles are coming to Xbox Game Pass in the final few days of September 2025. Sworn will arrive on September 23, followed two days later by Peppa Pig: World Adventures and Visions of Mana. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is set to close out the month’s additions on September 30.

September 30 is also the date when Xbox Game Pass will lose four titles, including the two Ninja Gaiden Sigma entries and Terra Invicta. Based on Microsoft’s publishing schedule, the XGP Wave 1 lineup for next month is likely to be announced on October 7.
