Dragon Ball Super 2 is Introducing the Strongest Character in the Universe

The Dragon Ball Super anime has introduced some extremely powerful characters. The likes of Zamasu, Jiren, Beerus, and Broly surpass anything from Dragon Ball Z – to say nothing of just how much Goku and Vegeta have grown since they became living Gods. Despite how strong everyone got by the end of the series, Dragon Ball Super 2 is going to make everything that came before look like child’s play.

Beginning with Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, the franchise’s hierarchy of power is going to change forever. Goku and Vegeta are going to fight villains who surpass the Gods, unlock forms that put them on par with Beerus, and meet warriors they’ll never be able to beat. Dragon Ball Super 2 is finally introducing the strongest mortal in the entire multiverse – and, unfortunately, it’s neither Goku nor Vegeta.

The Strongest Mortals Are All Going To Awaken Their Full Power in Dragon Ball Super 2

Orange Piccolo, Gohan Beast, Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, Ultra Instinct Goku, and Ultra Ego Vegeta

Part of what makes identifying the strongest character in Dragon Ball Super 2 is simply the mere fact that everybody is about to get a lot stronger. Goku will finally master Perfected Ultra Instinct, Vegeta will become Beerus’ disciple and unlock Ultra Ego, Broly will tap into True Legendary Super Saiyan and surpass Gogeta, Piccolo will finally rival Goku again after triggering his Orange form, and Gohan will become the most powerful Z-Fighter upon unlocking Beast.

Not only that, Beerus’ benchmark keeps getting higher and Frieza is going to be reintroduced with his overpowered Black transformation. All of Dragon Ball Super‘s main characters are becoming absurdly powerful in DBS 2, with no signs of slowing down in the manga’s upcoming Black Frieza Saga. By the end of Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, Goku and Moro will be even stronger than Jiren, Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, and even Beerus from Battle of Gods.

Gas & Granolah Are Going to Destroy the Series’ Power Scaling

Along with the main characters growing stronger over the course of Dragon Ball Super 2, the series’ second story arc is going to abuse the Dragon Balls like nothing else. The Granolah the Survivor Saga is all about what happens when the characters start wishing to be the strongest person alive, rather than training (a common complaint from some fans). The fact that Toyotarou takes such a banal premise and turns it into one of the most character- and emotion-driven stories in Dragon Ball truly speaks to his talents as a mangaka.

By using Planet Cereal’s Dragon Balls, Granolah and Gas both undergo transformations that turn them into the most powerful beings in Universe 7. They instinctively understand how to use Hakai, Granolah nearly kills Goku, and Gas’ wish makes it so he ages up to reach his body’s full potential anytime somebody surpasses him. Through this plot, however, Dragon Ball Super 2 is going to use Granolah and Gas to show that power is neither everything, nor is it static.

The Oracle Fish’s Prophecy is About Frieza or Gohan

The Oracle Fish’s properties have been a key, if understated, part of Dragon Ball Super‘s storytelling since Battle of Gods. The back-half of Dragon Ball Super didn’t use him too much, but Dragon Ball Super 2 is going to bring the Oracle Fish back to set the score straight – Goku and Vegeta may be Beerus’ rivals, but they are not the strongest beings in the universe. Nor will they ever be. Instead, the true strongest being will soon awaken.

The Oracle Fish makes this prophecy in the Granolah the Survivor Saga, so it makes sense to assume Granolah and Gas are who he’s referring to. This is wrong, however. It’s important to remember that Akira Toriyam had already written Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero before Toyotarou wrote the Granolah the Survivor Saga. The true strongest being the Oracle Fish is referring to is either Gohan Beast, who becomes the most powerful Z-Fighter at the end of the Super Hero Saga, or Black Frieza.

While Black Frieza was introduced in a story arc written by Toyotarou, he is expected to be the main villain of the series’ next story arc. Not only that, Toriyama approved everything that made it into the manga and even edited Toyotarou’s work if he needed to. Since Black Frieza was introduced years before Toriyama died, it’s more than likely he’s the form’s true creator. And if nothing else, he would have known that Frieza was already stronger than the Z-Fighter while writing Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.

Considering Black Frieza’s feats and how easily he defeated True Ultra Instinct Goku and Ultra Ego Vegeta in the Granolah the Survivor Saga, it makes sense for him to be the strongest. That said, Gohan Beast killed Cell Max, knocked Goku out of Perfected Ultra Instinct, and held his own against True Legendary Super Saiyan Broly. With how much power they’re packing, Gohan Beast VS Black Frieza is bound to be one of the greatest fights in Dragon Ball history.
