The title of Wizard King is attributed only to the mage deemed the strongest of the Clover Kingdom. Throughout the existence of the Clover Kingdom, there have been, in total, 29 Wizard Kings. Despite the existence of so many of these powerful mages, technically, we only officially know the names, powers, and identities of seven of them. While the likes of Asta and Julius Novachrono are undeniably among the strongest, the five other Wizard Kings are nowhere near as impressive.
Most of these Wizard King characters were introduced to us through the canon movie Black Clover: The Sword of the Wizard King, and while each has shown us what they’re capable of, some can definitely be deemed weaker than others. To be specific, none of these Black Clover characters can be qualified as weak, but in comparison to others with the same title, they aren’t as powerful.

Conrad Leto
- Wizard King Status: 27th Wizard King

Putting aside the likes of Asta with his anti-magic and Julius Novachrono with his Time and Soul Magic, the most impressive Wizard King of the remaining five is definitely Conrad. Conrad is one of the more recent Wizard Kings. He was the 27th, meaning he was the Wizard King directly before Julius’ era.
What makes Conrad as impressive as he is, is his magic attribute, Key Magic. Key Magic, in more basic terms, grants Conrad the ability to manipulate and create keys, but the power is also quite complex. The keys Conrad creates aren’t exactly normal. They allow Conrad to lock or unlock almost anything, which can include simple objects or even abilities. The power to steal abilities and copy them for himself, as well as to stop enemies from utilizing their complex magic, is not to be underestimated. This exact power is what puts him ahead of the other weaker title holders. In his fight in The Sword of the Wizard King, he definitely had the most impressive performance, clashing swords with Asta and Julius at some point. When the movie first came out, many would’ve considered him the strongest Wizard King of all time, but after the Final arc, this doesn’t stand any longer.

Princia Funnybunny
- Wizard King Status: 11th Wizard King
- Magic Attribute: Legion Magic
- Former Magic Knight Squad: Blue Rose
Princia Funnybunny, first seen in Black Clover: The Sword of the Wizard King, is the first and only known female Wizard King in the history of Black Clover, although there might be others among the 29 that Tabata hasn’t revealed to us. Either way, Princia was a revolutionary character. She was the first non-royal to reach the title of Wizard King, which is impressive, and she achieved it all through her might and abilities. Princia was able to distinguish herself in many ways, even though a dark fate awaited her through her short-lived reign.
Princia had access to Legion Magic. With her Legion Magic, she was known as a one-woman army, able to create chess piece soldiers and bring a whole kingdom to its knees almost single-handedly. Even among the other Wizard Kings, she was highly praised for her strength and abilities. However, during the run of The Sword of the Wizard King, Princia was defeated in a one-on-one. Her battle was against none other than Mereoleona Vermillion, one of the strongest characters of Black Clover. Still, to be defeated in a one-on-one is a big stain on her prestige as the 11th Wizard King.

Jester Garandros

- Magic Attribute: Barrier Magic
- Former Magic Knight Squad: N/A
Jester was the 16th Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom, and from what we learn about him through Black Clover: The Sword of the Wizard King, he was quite a compelling character. During his lifetime, Jester attained the rank of Wizard King out of a strong desire to prevent death and tragedy, after he himself experienced great loss. Eventually, however, Jester would be executed by the Clover Kingdom and deemed a Mad King. This would bring his short reign to an end and would easily explain why he wanted to destroy the Clover Kingdom to start it anew.
He was an interesting character, seen using the magical attribute of Barrier. With his Barrier magic, he was able to defend against any attack thrown his way, summoning large obstacles that enemies couldn’t bypass. He is a versatile Wizard King, but when it comes to offensive abilities, he falls short compared to most others.

Edward Avalaché
- Wizard King Status: 20th Wizard King
- Magic Attribute: Ice Wedge Magic
- Former Magic Knight Squad: N/A
Edward is yet another Wizard King introduced in the 2023 movie Black Clover: The Sword of the Wizard King. He stood as the 20th Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom. A priest turned Wizard King, he was resurrected alongside the others for the duration of the movie. Edward, as we’ve seen, possesses the magic attribute of Ice Wedge. Ice Wedge Magic, despite the name distinction, seems practically identical to Ice Magic.
It allowed Edward to manipulate and create ice in battle. Edward was powerful, being able to construct large figures with ice, resulting in him being hard to pierce and defeat. However, when compared to the other Wizard King seen in the story, his abilities fall short. In the very same movie he was introduced in, he ended up being defeated by Noelle in collaboration with the other members of the Black Bull. In general, he definitely has one of the more underwhelming magic attributes.

Lumiel Silvamillion

It’s hard to say, without a shadow of a doubt, who the weakest among those who have once held the title of Wizard King is. However, the strongest contender to be deemed the weakest of the bunch is Lumiel Silvamillion, the very first Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom.
Lumiel was absolutely revolutionary. Without him, the title of Wizard King as we know it today would have never existed in the first place. Lumiel lived around 500 years ago, and he changed the Clover Kingdom as a whole. His descendants went on to form the royal family of Clover, which includes the Silva and Vermillion families today. Despite his influence, his strength isn’t the greatest among the Wizard Kings. Since his era, magic has greatly developed, and in the current era, he would be outdone quickly by most of the characters. While he wielded Light magic with great proficiency, he would likely be defeated by the Wizard Kings who came after him.
