All Silent Hill f endings and how to get them

What will Hinako Shimizu become?

Designed like a visual novel, Silent Hill f offers brand new lore, cutscenes, and changes the late-game puzzle solutions depending on which ending route you landed on. Completing the ending conditions alters what you see and experience in the Shimizu Residence and Treasure Hall. The final boss fight also changes, providing more context on Hinako’s story, how Fog World came to Ebisugaoka, and clearly demonstrates which ending is canon.

The replayability of Silent Hill f is in both its ending variety and how each branch you traverse down alters the climax and post-credits cutscene. You could be satisfied with one ending, but be eager to see another, offering a gap between each playthrough so it feels like a new game every time you revisit that godforsaken rural town.

Ending requirements unlock when you complete your first playthrough in Silent Hill f (the default ending). You can find the list for each ending in the Main Menu, but you can’t refer back to it during a playthrough without exiting the game. Aside from Coming Home to Roost, all endings are achieved in New Game+, where your omamori and stats pass over, preparing you for the upcoming boss fight and challenges that come with specific endings (e.g., more enemy spawns with increased aggressiveness in Fox’s Wedding route).

Lost in the Fog difficulty for combat and puzzles unlocks for NG+. You need to keep a NG+ save file active at all times as to avoid selecting New Game in the Main Menu (which resets your entire progress).

Coming Home to Roost (Default)

  • Complete the story for the first time.

Fox’s Wedding (Bad)

  • Didn’t take the red capsules.
  • Purified the Sacred Sword, or didn’t obtain it.
  • Obtained the Agura no Hotei-sama.

The Fox Wets Its Tail (Good)

  • Didn’t take the red capsules.
  • Obtained the unpurified Sacred Sword.

Ebisugaoka In Silence (True)

  • Complete two different full endings.
  • Didn’t take the red capsules.
  • Purified the Sacred Sword.
  • Offered the Brooch.

The Great Space Invasion! (Joke)

  • Listened to all the UFO radio broadcasts.
  • Found all three of “The Great Space Invasion” movie posters in order after listening to the UFO radio broadcasts.
  • Found “The Great Space Invasion” movie review after fulfilling the conditions above.

How to unlock all Silent Hill f endings

While Silent Hill f kindly showcases what criteria you need to look out for to get each ending, there’s no clear telling on how to complete each objective. Some steps last the entirety of a playthrough, while others are a singular secret puzzle that can be found towards the endgame. Therefore, we recommend completing conditions for two to three endings in a single playthrough and manually saving on the Main Hall Shrine (in the Chasing the Fox Mask objective). This is right before Sakuko’s boss fight. This way you can reload an old save without having to replay the game from the very beginning, reducing your playthroughs to three attempts instead of five.

You should refrain from consuming any pills for all endings aside from the default. We recommend discarding the pills when they’re first introduced to the game and avoiding picking them up altogether, that way you don’t accidentally consume any during a playthrough.

Coming Home to Roost

This is the default ending everyone will get when they first complete Silent Hill f. There’s nothing for you to do here aside from enjoy the strange, confusing experience of Hinako Shimizu’s story.

Fox’s Wedding

For this ending, you need to find the Agura no Hotei-sama from the Hermitage of Crimson Water, a secret area in the upper level of the Main Hall. Once you find this area beyond the Fox Shrine on the second floor, using the upgraded Focus feature of the fox to enter, you must complete the Crimson Water puzzle by ringing three bells per shishi-odoshi strike.

You don’t have to get the Sacred Sword for this ending, but I recommend you do so you can get both endings correlating to this weapon. That way, you don’t have to start a new playthrough. You should have found the Hotei-sama Sitting Cross-legged vial and completed the Crimson Water puzzle before returning to Ebisugaoka. You then must locate the fifth and final Jizo statue to unleash the Water Dragon upon the Sacred Sword through cleansing the blade at the pool of blood, just north of the last statue’s location.

You need to get the Sacred Sword by finding all five Jizo statues and placing down their corresponding offering. Each offering spawns relatively close to the statue in question. You can find Research Photos to help point you towards the Jizo statue nearest to it and then interact with the statue to get a clue on its offering location. Keep referring to Hinako’s journal for your Sacred Sword progress, as you don’t want to accidentally miss an offering.

The main difference in this ending from the true is that the final offering switches from Hinako’s Father’s Knife to the Brooch. The sword must remain unpurified to get this ending. So once you have it when the objective is to head down the mountain and to Shimizu Residence, make sure you just continue playing through Silent Hill f as normal.

This part of the guide is a work in progress. We will update this section as we unlock the final two endings.

Listen to the UFO Radio Broadcasts and locate all three Great Space Invasion Posters in Ebisugaoka. Locate the Great Invasion Posters when you’re following Shu and Rinko to the School. They spawn exclusively inside Ebisugaoka (Fog World).
