Long-time Nintendo of America president and chief operating officer Doug Bowser will be retiring from those positions after more than 10 years in leadership roles in the company. Devon Pritchard, also a long-time executive of the company, will succeed him as president.
As per Business Wire, Bowser is retiring as Nintendo of America’s COO and president on Dec. 31 2025, after a decade of covering multiple leadership positions in the company. Devon Pritchard, who has been with Nintendo of America for 19 years, will take up those positions, while Satoru Shibata will join the company as its new chief executive officer.
Pritchard is also joining Nintendo of America’s Board of Director and become an NCL executive officer. Shibata will additionally continue to perform his previous duties as managing executive officer and corporate director.
Bowser has had a tremendous effect on Nintendo’s resurgence in the Americas, spearheading the Switch 1 and 2, helping turn the former into the console we all know and love—as well as the best-selling console device in the industry’s history. Additionally, under his leadership, Nintendo re-affirmed its stance as one of gaming’s giants, making use of the many resources and entertainment venues popular in the Americas, such as films, to further expand its reach.
“Leading Nintendo of America has been the honor of a lifetime, and I am proud of what our team has accomplished in both business results and the experiences we’ve created for consumers,” Bowser told Business Wire, adding that “it’s time for the next generation of leadership.”
“Devon’s track record speaks for itself,” he continued. “She is an exceptional leader, and her promotion is a testament to her strong performance and strategic contributions to the company’s growth. I have full confidence that she will guide the company to even greater heights.”
