Rockstar Officially Comments on GTA 6’s Lucia Actor + Performance

Grand Theft Auto 6 is bringing players back to Vice City, but Rockstar Games is putting just as much emphasis on the people who will inhabit its fictional version of Florida. The upcoming open-world crime game follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, two protagonists whose relationship will shape their increasingly dangerous lives in Leonida. With the game scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, Rockstar has gradually offered more insight into the two GTA 6 characters.

Jason and Lucia’s criminal (and potentially romantic) partnership creates room for two different perspectives on crime, ambition, and the choices that come with trying to build a better life. Rockstar has already described Jason as someone who wants an easy life even as things become harder, while Lucia is determined to pursue a better future. Recent comments from the GTA 6 studio suggest their personalities and flaws will be just as important to the story as the criminal jobs they take on.

Rockstar Discusses What GTA 6’s Lucia Actor Brought to the Character

In an interview with LOVE Magazine, Rockstar Games writer Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern explained how the actress playing Lucia helped the studio create an effective Grand Theft Auto protagonist. Asked how the writing team approached making Lucia a fully realized female lead without reducing her to a victim or a male fantasy, Gauvey-Kern said,

“The actress who played Lucia brought a lot to the character. A GTA protagonist needs to be tough, badass, cool. And with this actress, we knew we could create an incredible Grand Theft Auto protagonist. We wanted both protagonists to be vulnerable, tough, flawed, right sometimes, wrong sometimes, able to learn from each other, and that’s what we felt made them authentic, and a great team.”

The comments offer a useful look at Rockstar’s approach to Lucia, particularly the emphasis on the performance behind the character. Although the studio has not officially identified Lucia’s actress, GTA 6 fans have speculated that Manni L. Perez plays Lucia. Perez has been linked to Lucia through online fan investigations, but Rockstar has not confirmed that casting, and Gauvey-Kern does not name the actress in her comments. Her statement instead focuses on how the performer’s contribution helped bring the character to life.

The emphasis on vulnerability and flaws also connects to what Rockstar has said about Jason. In the same LOVE Magazine interview, senior vice president of narrative Rupert Humphries discussed how Jason’s background and material circumstances influence his criminal behavior in GTA 6, while leaving players to decide whether his choices are necessary or simply part of who he is. The two comments point toward a similar approach to both leads: their pasts help explain their decisions, but neither character is meant to be defined by a single trait. Their ability to learn from each other could become especially important as their criminal partnership grows more complicated.

With GTA 6 approaching its November release, Rockstar’s comments are helping establish what makes Jason and Lucia different from the series’ previous protagonists. And as more details emerge, the relationship between Lucia and Jason could become one of the most important parts of what separates Grand Theft Auto 6 from earlier entries.
