Black Clover has a special place for elderly characters who excel in physical and magical combat, proving that age is not necessarily a disadvantage in the world of magic and swords. Despite their advanced years, these veteran characters in Black Clover possess years of battle experience that make them forces to be reckoned with.
Age has done little to diminish the power of Black Clover‘s strongest elderly characters, many of whom possess greater strength than the series’ younger fighters. It goes without saying that fighting them on the battlefield wouldn’t be easy, especially when they combine decades of experience with their incredible physical and magical abilities.

Walter Proves That Even Elderly Butlers Can Be Formidable Fighters
Skilled combat butlers are common in action-packed anime, and Walter of the Boismortier family is no exception. Although he is an elderly butler, he possesses enough strength to protect the Boismortier family, particularly Rill, whenever danger arises. His unwavering loyalty also drives him to risk his life to ensure his master’s safety. He also doesn’t mind putting his life on the line for other people who need help and rescue.
While Walter’s magic attributes remain unknown to this day, his position as a Magic Knight under the Aqua Deer banner proves that he possesses considerable magical abilities and combat experience. True enough, even Asta of the Black Bulls is impressed by Walter’s incredible speed, a testament to the elderly butler’s exceptional physical abilities.

Theresa Rapual Was the Fire Magic Mentor of Mereoleona and Fuegoleon
The Vermillion family found a formidable magic instructor in Theresa Rapual, who once trained Mereoleona and Fuegoleon in the art of fire magic. At the time, Theresa was one of the best Magic Knights in Clover Kingdom, strong enough to support younger mages with incredible potential with her extensive fire magic power.
Now that Theresa has grown old, her magical power has weakened, but that doesn’t mean she has lost her combat skills or extensive knowledge of fire magic. In battle, Theresa can still unleash powerful Fire Magic attacks, from scorching flames that take the form of a large cross to streams of fire that inflict devastating damage. She is well adept at the Mana Zone technique as well, on top of her expertise in fire-based healing and creation magic.

Seabed Temple’s Gifso Can Trap Powerful Opponents in a Deadly Battle Royale Game
The Seabed Temple has a powerful elderly priest in Gifso, who once challenged the Black Bulls squad with his unique Game Magic. Although he may be old, Gifso remains a troublesome opponent, especially after activating his Game Magic, which forces his foes to participate in a battle royale where they must defeat him to escape.
As a high priest, Gifso has enough magical power to sustain the effects of his Game Magic for extended periods. His substantial mana reserves are comparable to those of a Senior Magic Knight, allowing him to manipulate events within his magical game and force his opponents to follow its rules.

Yagos Is an Elderly Diamond Kingdom Mage With a Horrifying Magic Attribute
The Diamond Kingdom boasts a formidable hunchbacked mage in Yagos, an elderly man whose immense magical power easily earned him a place among the infamous Eight Shining Generals. Just like his peers, Yagos is an arrogant and ruthless mage who believes his unique Mucus Magic is far superior to the abilities of other mages.
Speaking of Mucus Magic, Yagos uses this unique attribute to smother his opponents with mucus, suffocating and weakening them in the process until they die. He can also use mucus-based creation magic, allowing him to create large, viscous constructs that can absorb physical and magical attacks and even entrap multiple enemies.

Ursula Bloodlord Is an Ancient Witch With Elven-Level Magic Power
On the surface, Ursula Bloodlord, also known as the Witch Queen, looks like a youthful woman, but she is actually an ancient witch who has lived for over a century, possessing immense magic power on the same level as the elves in Black Clover. In other words, Ursula is an overpowered elderly witch worthy of the title of Mother of All Witches in the series.
In battle, Ursula relies on high-level blood magic spells, allowing her to weaponize blood in the most unimaginable ways. She can even manipulate other people’s blood, as soon as her magic affects them. She is also a renowned healing magic user, best remembered for her effective blood-based healing spell that restored Asta to fighting condition.

Edward Avalache Was a Wizard King the Nobles and Royals Could Not Control
The 20th Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom was a powerful and influential elderly man who once aimed to change society’s unfair treatment of the weak and feeble. For years, Edward campaigned against abusive royals and nobles until they revoked his Wizard King title.
On the battlefield, Edward relied on Ice Wedge Magic, casting powerful high-level spells simultaneously and effortlessly. He can easily create large, deadly ice constructs that are strong enough to overwhelm the entire Black Bulls squad without going all-out. His ice constructs can even withstand powerful offensive fire magic spells, proving that elemental disadvantages mean little to his overwhelming power.
