Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Fans Should Circle October 8 on Their Calendars

On October 8, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will get its first post-release major DLC pack, introducing several familiar characters from the Minecraft universe. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds had already teased multiple upcoming crossovers, and one of the biggest is now just around the corner.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has previously revealed several guest characters from SEGA’s other major franchises, including Joker from Persona 5 and Kasuga Ichiban from Like a Dragon. The kart racer also includes Hatsune Miku, the hugely popular virtual singer who even had her own themed festival in-game. Fans who enjoy crossover content have more to look forward to, as Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is about to launch one of its most anticipated collaborations yet.

Minecraft Is Coming to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on October 8

SEGA and developer Sonic Team have announced that the Minecraft DLC, featuring characters like Steve, Alex, and Creeper, will arrive in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on October 8. The pack includes a themed course called Minecraft World and a new vehicle inspired by the Minecart. Players who already own the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Season Pass will get access to the DLC on release day, while others will need to purchase it separately. For reference, the Season Pass costs an additional $30 USD on top of the base game’s $70 price.

  • The Minecart vehicle
  • Minecraft World track
  • Remixed Minecraft music
  • Six Emotes per character, and additional sounds

To celebrate the launch of the Minecraft DLC pack, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will host a special event from October 9 to 11 where players, including those who don’t own the Minecraft DLC, can join in and earn some rewards. While details about the event haven’t been revealed yet, it’s expected to be similar to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds‘ Hatsune Miku festival.

The Minecraft DLC pack won’t be the last crossover for SEGA’s new kart racer. Upcoming collaborations for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds include a Mega Man crossover and themed packs for popular franchises like SpongeBob SquarePants, Pac-Man, Avatar Legends, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. All this additional content is included in the game’s Season Pass and may require separate purchases for players who don’t own it.

Recent statistics show that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds had a strong launch and appears to be a profitable release for SEGA. The addition of crossover content featuring popular games and franchises has the potential to boost sales even further while expanding the already impressive roster of CrossWorlds characters and available customization options.
