Do you want to sail across Meigu Lake in Phantom Blade Zero? This large body of water is bordered by various settlements, including the Village of Lu and the city of Pangzhen. You need a certain item to travel to this location, though, and that’s probably what’s tripping you up. Here’s what you need to know.
Meigu Lake location and the Flaming Mane
The Phantom Blade Zero Meigu Lake zone can be accessed via the northeastern corner of Pangzhen near the Pavilion of Knowledge. Unfortunately, the path that leads you there is blocked by thorny brambles.
Your goal, therefore, is to find a Phantom Edge called the Flaming Mane. You must complete the main objectives in Pangzhen until you defeat the Lion Dance Grandmaster all the way in the northwestern corner of the city. Then, upon visiting another NPC that’s marked on your map, you should be able to activate the Flaming Mane to burn vines thoroughly.
From the aforementioned northeastern path, follow the streets and traverse the rooftops until you encounter a boss named Soulclaimer. Once you’ve beaten him, you should have full access to the docks and cliffside area.

Torch the brambles (left) and beat Soulclaimer (right).
Meigu Lake Sha-Chi Tower, islands, and the Illusory Pipa
You can explore the ground and upper levels of the Sha-Chi Tower, but what you really need to do is enter it via the lower section. This can be done by sailing the mechanized boat off to the northern side of the structure and looking for an opening.
In fact, you’ll mostly sail across the lake to dock on islands and tag bells, slowly revealing the entirety of the map. Notable locations include the Songhouse Island, which has a large pavilion that’s in ruins. It’s where you can fight a boss that drops a necessary component for the Illusory Pipa. Oh, and Quick Hand Zhang happens to have a hideout on one of the islands, too.

Boats won’t run out of fuel, so you can dock at the Sha-Chi Tower (left) and various islands (right).
The Frozen Lake Dock and Four Guardians’ Mirror
Perhaps one of the strangest locales in the Phantom Blade Zero Meigu Lake zone is the northwestern corner, where the water is completely frozen. If you approach it from other directions, you might not see a viable path. However, if you look closely along the western side, you’ll notice a cove that you can pass through, leading to a dock by a fishing village. This is where you’ll be able to conclude Old Man Gen’s quest line.
Last but not least, there’s another bell in this frigid landscape. It’s called the Four Guardians’ Mirror. You can gain access but only once you have the four Acolyte Masks. We won’t spoil all the details just yet, so do enjoy the trip.

More secrets await you in the frozen lands to the northwest.
