The key decision that could completely change the ending begins with the scene where you confront the Crooked Man.

Your ending depends on whether you kill the Crooked Man, arrest him, or refuse to take him to the community and fail to disarm him. The latter will cause you to die, which forces you to retry your choice after the credits, as this is the non-canon ending.

Killing Crooked Man in the Confrontation

If you decide to kill Crooked Man after disarming him, Bigby Wolf will take his dead body to the trial. This action will be received poorly by both the Fabletown community and Snow White. People will question the credibility of Bigby Wolf’s action, criticizing him for doing whatever he wants without considering any procedures.

Snow White will also be disappointed by Bigby Wolf, expressing doubts about working with him as the community’s sheriff in the future.

Despite all this, Snow White and Bigby will still remain in charge, and some of the community will still back them up, especially after Nerissa arrives and provides some more evidence on how the Crooked Man had them trapped in the Pudding N Pie club.

After that, Bigby drops the Crooked Man’s corpse into the well. And the post-trial scene reveals some more truths about Faith’s death while also showing the fate of some other characters in Fabletown.

Keep in mind that at some point in the trial where the Fabletown members question Bigby’s actions, you get a dialogue option of “F*** this, I’m leaving.“

If you choose this option, Bigby will carry the Crooked Man’s corpse to the well and will leave the trial early. In this case, Nerissa will never arrive at the trial, and you will never have her testimony.

Arresting Crooked Man and Bringing Him to Snow White

If you decide to take the Crooked Man to the trial, things will be different. First of all, you will not get the cold and terrified reception from the community, as you have decided to follow the procedures and have a fair trial.

Snow White reads the charges on the Crooked Man and then allows him to defend himself. The Crooked Man steals the show and tries to impress the Fabletown community with his good deeds since leaving the Homelands.

The Crooked Man succeeds to some extent in winning opinions, especially when he talks to Greenleaf and reminds her how he managed to save her tree, while Snow White wanted it destroyed.

Then, the Crooked Man blames Snow White and Bigby Wolf for punishing him for a crime that he has not committed. The Crooked Man insists that Georgie was the one who killed Lily and Faith, and it was not an order from him. He argues that if he is about to be punished for the crimes of someone who used to be his employee, then Snow White should also be responsible and punished for all the bad deeds of Bigby Wolf.

The Crooked Man’s speech splits up the community, and it seems like Snow White and Bigby Wolf are losing the trial, but then Nerissa arrives and claims that he was in the Crooked Man’s room when he ordered the death of Faith and Lily. With Nerissa’s testimony, the votes change towards the Crooked Man’s death again.

However, Greenleaf still insists that the community should stay away from killing each other, offering that they should imprison the Crooked Man forever instead of throwing him into the well.

At this point, the Crooked Man takes Bigby hostage, attempting to throw him into the well. If you react in time, Bigby Wolf will escape the threat, and then he gets to decide the Crooked Man’s fate.

Bigby Wolf has three options here:

  • Rip the Crooked Man’s Head Off

    • Bigby Wolf will transform into his wild form and rip the Crooked Man’s head off. Then, he will throw his head and body into the well.
    • This will leave a horrible impact on all the community members, including Snow White.
  • Throw the Crooked Man into the Well

    • Bigby Wolf throws the Crooked Man into the well. This won’t trigger a heavy negative impact, but Snow White, Beast, and Greenleaf will still dislike this approach.
    • The rest of the community, such as Bluebird, Holly, Gren, Nerissa, and Beauty, will support this decision.
  • Imprison the Crooked Man

    • Bigby Wolf will spare the Crooked Man and will ask Greenleaf to create a spell that keeps the Crooked Man imprisoned for the rest of his life.
    • This is the favorite result for Snow White and Greenleaf, but the rest of the community won’t accept it as justice.

Post-Trial Ending Scene

Your choices throughout the game, including the trial scene, can slightly change the post-trial ending scene, but it will be mostly the same.

If you decided to imprison the Crooked Man, there will be a unique encounter with Greenleaf in the post-trial scene, where you get to meet the Crooked Man in his new form. He is now turned into a crow and is imprisoned inside a cage forever.

Snow White and Bigby Wolf will still remain in charge, while Toad and Toad Jr. will be exiled to the Farms along with the Crooked Man.

However, the most important part is the conversation between Nerissa and Bigby, where Nerissa admits that her testimony at the trial was nothing but a lie.

She reveals that she had never heard the Crooked Man order the death of Lily and Faith. She admits that she couldn’t see the Crooked Man winning the trial, so she decided to lie and get rid of him at any cost.

The dialogues above won’t appear for players who decided to kill the Crooked Man at his office before taking him to trial, and then left the trial early by throwing his corpse into the well.

Furthermore, Nerissa also admits that, with the help of Lily and Faith, they had a plan to blackmail Crane, a close ally of the Crooked Man, and force him to let them be free again, but Nerissa was so scared of the outcome that she decided to tell the truth about the blackmail to Georgie and ask him to talk to the Crooked Man and vouch for them to leave Pudding N Pie.

Despite promising to sort things out, Georgie kills both Lily and Faith. This leaves Nerissa with a deep feeling of guilt and pain. So, she decides to grab Faith’s decapitated head and leave it in front of Bigby’s apartment, triggering an investigation that might lead to revenge from the murderers of Faith and Lily.

Nerissa’s admission in the end makes it even more difficult to figure out which fate the Crooked Man deserved the most, and which action by Bigby Wolf was true justice.

Although Georgie admitted that Lily and Faith were killed by the Crooked Man’s order, when looking at it from the perspective of the Fabletown community, imprisoning the Crooked Man seems to be the most logical outcome.

Should You Go After Nerissa or Let Her Go?

Let Nerissa Go - The Wolf Among Us Remastered Image: GameRant via Telltale

When Nerissa leaves Bigby, she says a line of dialogue that we had heard from Faith in the first episode. This causes Bigby to remember some of Faith’s and Nerissa’s similar lines from the past. Then, you get an option to either go after Nerissa or let her go.

Choosing either of the options won’t make a difference. You will get no extra piece of information from the choice you make here. Either way, the game will never give you a direct answer on whether Nerissa and Faith were representing the same person or not. However, the ending tries to give you doubts that Nerissa was already a Glamour for Faith.

This is a cliffhanger that will likely be resolved in The Wolf Among Us 2, set to release in 2027.
