Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Running New Free Trial During Battlefield 6 Season 1 Launch

Its timing, combined with Activision’s recent promotional strategy, suggests the upcoming Black Ops 6 trial is intentionally scheduled to debut alongside the launch of Battlefield 6 Season 1.

When Does Season 1 Start for Battlefield 6

The Battlefield 6 marketing team has been throwing shade at Call of Duty since before the game’s October 10 release, continuing the longstanding rivalry between the two series. Battlefield 6 Season 1 is now set to kick off on Tuesday, October 28.

Black Ops 6 Announces Second Free Trial Since Battlefield 1 Launch

Black Ops 6 will be getting a free trial on the very same day, Activision has announced. The promotion will offer access to Zombies and other multiplayer modes. It’s scheduled to run for exactly one week, ending on November 4. The promotional offer has not been officially positioned as a response to DICE’s Season 1 launch. Be that as it may, it marks the second Black Ops 6 free trial to coincide with a Battlefield 6 event, following a previous offer that overlapped with the game’s launch week—making Activision’s intent appear clear.

The trial itself will offer access to 10 multiplayer mods spanning 40 maps in total. The Black Ops 6 Halloween event that kicked off in the first half of October will also be fully playable during the promotional period. Meanwhile, Zombies will be limited to Directed Mode, which provides detailed quest instructions that help newcomers progress faster. This comes at the expense of side activities being disabled, as well as a round cap of 15. While thus not suitable for high-level play that Standard offers, Directed Mode is the most accessible introduction to the Black Ops 6 version of Zombies on offer, making it an obvious inclusion in the upcoming free trial.

Black Ops 6 Ranked play will not be available as part of the promotion, which is consistent with how Call of Duty game trials worked in recent memory. No exact time for the new promo has yet been given, but Activision’s track record indicates that it may begin in the early morning hours (PT) on October 28. If the publisher opts to truly sync it with the start of Battlefield 6 Season 1, then the trial will go live at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm CET. However, the last such event from the first half of October kicked off an hour later.
