What are we all playing this weekend?

No time to talk. Raiders are nearby, and there’s a Rocketeer soaring overhead. We have to stay quiet. No sudden moves, no loud noises. Just come over here and whisper in my ear: what are you getting up to this weekend?

Happy spoOoOoOky weekend. I’ve got a friend visiting from the scariest place of all, central London, so not many games for me. But I did indulge in a few random horrors from the Steam Halloween sale this week, and I naively reckon I can squeeze in a few more when I’m not hosting. I’ve got one lined up called The Boba Teashop, where you make boba tea and… uh… sell it, I guess? I don’t know what the official spooky element is, but to be honest, they don’t need one. I’ve worked hospitality jobs on seasonal holidays. I’d rather throw hands with Michael Myers than be forced to upsell a tired, grumpy dad to a large cinema coke again.

This weekend, I’d like to get back into the weeds of Silent Hill f, and also try out Stray Children, the game about weird kids hiding from horrible adults. Speaking of weird kids, I’ll also be playing an exciting Halloween-themed IRL game called Don’t Get Vandalised By Trick-Or-Treaters. The local Morrisons has put up a notice saying they won’t be selling eggs and flour to groups of young ‘uns. Fingers crossed that’s enough of a deterrent, but I might scatter a few caltrops in the driveway, just in case.

I need to play the new Dispatch episodes before they’re spoiled any further by YouTube thumbnails. Just kidding! It is impossible for them to be spoiled by YouTube thumbnails any more than they already have.

House madness continues. The game this weekend is “Our Kitchen Now Resembles Arrakis From Every Dune RTS Game”. The builders have found Spice – I mean damp – while drilling in the walls Can we remove it before the festering wet horror claims my soul? I have my doubts. This week I banged my head on a wooden beam in our cellar while turning sockets on and off and went to A&E because the wife was worried, and while I am okay, I now have a slight cut on my head that is glued together. Literally coming apart at the seams, I am.

As I’m facing down a weekend of chasing after my toddling nieces and nephews, keeping them away from the sharp corners of tables and all-too-shatterable crockery, it’s only appropriate that in the hours I’m not babysitting I’ll be playing Herdling. (Though, I hope the threat of a large bird swooping in and attacking my wards remains purely in the videogame.)

Mark
One of my favourite racing sims, Automobilista 2, is about to get a big update which adds in a bunch of new mid-2000s GT cars and prototypes. That’s around the time I first got into racing, so you best believe I’ll be firing a Maserati MC12 through some bends.

Ollie
Arc Raiders. What else? I’m the big extraction shooter nutter of the team, and I’ve played every single playtest, alpha, and beta of Arc Raiders, and loved every moment of it. They’ve hit upon something truly special and memorable with the ARC enemies and the general atmosphere of each raid. It’s captured my gaming group completely, and made me wish I were a university student again, with near-infinite time to play games.

And you, reader dear, what are you playing this weekend?…
