How to Carry More Stuff in Hytale

How to Carry More Stuff in Hytale

Inventory space is always going to be an issue in games like Hytale. There’s always so much stuff to pick up, but thankfully, players can upgrade their inventories by crafting backpack upgrades. Hytale’s backpacks aren’t physical objects that players wear. Instead, they act as consumables that unlock extra inventory slots. Once you get your first backpack upgrade, you won’t have to worry about crafting another bag for that character again. Unlocking backpack upgrades is fairly easy, but you’ll need to know how to make them first.

Repairs aren’t free in Hytale, and you’ll need to put in a bit of effort if you want to fix your stuff.

The first thing you need to do is upgrade a Workbench to level 2. This will unlock the Unlock Backpack crafting recipe in your Workbench’s crafting menu. To upgrade a Workbench, you’ll need the following materials:

  • 30 Copper Ingot
  • 20 Iron Ingot
  • 20 Linen Scraps

Upgrades apply only to individual crafting stations. If you want multiple upgraded Workbenches, you’ll need to upgrade all of them separately.

Copper and Iron can be mined and smelted into ingots at a Furnace. Meanwhile, you can find Linen Scraps in Hytale by finding and beating humanoid enemies like Skeletons and Trorks.

Once you’ve upgraded your Workbench, interact with it and go to the Tinkering Tab. The Unlock Backpack recipe is at the bottom row, and to craft it, you’ll need the following:

  • 8 Iron Ingot
  • 16 Medium Leather

Craft the upgrade, then put it on your hotbar. Select the Unlock Backpack upgrade in your hotbar, then press Right Mouse Button to consume it. By doing this, you’ll unlock the Backpack slot, which is found to the right of your character’s 3D model when you open the inventory screen. Click the third diamond below the Crafting tab to view your backpack’s contents.

You can upgrade your Backpack in Hytale even further if you continue to upgrade your Workbench and craft more upgrades. The higher-level Backpack recipes require the following items:

Backpack Upgrade 1

40 Cindercloth Scraps

8 Cobalt Ingot

24 Heavy Leather

Backpack Upgrade 2

1 Voidheart

8 Adamantite Ingot

16 Storm Leather

The materials needed for these upgrades are all fairly high-level, so you’ll have to go out and explore the world some more to find them. For example, you can find Cindercloth Scraps in Hytale are found on enemies that spawn down in the Volcanic layer where lava flows freely.

The default Backpack expands your inventory size by 9 slots, which should be enough for stowing extra tools or excess materials.
