Popular Diablo 2 Mod Getting Big Combat Update

A fan-favorite mod for Diablo 2 is getting some major changes for its “Season 12” update, with Project Diablo 2 overhauling the game’s ranged combat. While Blizzard’s focus has largely stuck with Diablo 4, continuing to push updates for the newest entry in the franchise, Diablo 2 continues to boast a loyal fanbase that has stuck with the dungeon-crawler RPG. Diablo 2 boasts a vibrant community of modders keeping the game alive, with Blizzard even remastering the game in 2021 with Diablo 2: Resurrected. Now, one of Diablo 2‘s most popular mods is getting a big update.

Despite the game being more than 25 years old now, Diablo 2 is still hailed as one of the pinnacles of action RPGs. Blizzard would continue to support Diablo 2 for more than a decade after its release, with the game still receiving patches well after the launch of its successor in Diablo 3. The game’s modding community has also looked to keep it alive, with “Project Diablo 2” in particular adding new dungeons, items, and even adding its own Uniques to the classic RPG. Project Diablo 2 is now gearing up to roll out one of the mod’s biggest changes yet.

Project Diablo 2 Mod Making Major Update to Ranged Combat

Project Diablo 2 recently revealed some major changes coming to the Diablo 2 mod for its “Season 12” update. The update will make a major change to how bows and crossbows function within Diablo 2, introducing different types of arrows and bolts. Both types of ranged ammunition will boast three separate rarities, with Crude, Sharp, and Razer Arrows and Light, Heavy, and War Bolts. The mod will also be adding several different types of Unique Arrows, including “Tombsong” arrows summoning skeleton allies and “Frozen Sorrow” arrows shredding Cold resistance and stealing mana.

The new qualities for Diablo 2‘s arrows will affect more than just their rarity in-game, with quality affecting the stats of Diablo 2‘s ranged weapons. Higher-tier Arrows will allow players to deal more damage based on the rarity of their arrows, while Crossbow bolts will gain physical resistance shredding effects with higher tiers. Project Diablo 2 also confirmed that the arrow updates will see both arrows and bolts gaining Sockets, allowing for even more upgrades.

project diablo 2 mod season 11 update

The major update to Project Diablo 2 comes as the franchise’s newest game is gearing up for a big change of its own. Diablo 4 is currently getting ready to launch its “Season 11” update in December, with significant changes coming to Diablo 4‘s Masterworking and Chaos Perks expected to be removed. Diablo 4 is also rumored to be seeing an announcement for the game’s second major expansion later this year, likely joining the Season 11 festivities. While Blizzard pushes new content for Diablo 4, the passionate community of Diablo 2 fans continue to keep the classic game’s flame burning bright.
