This article contains spoilers from the Solo Leveling Series.
Solo Leveling is, quite easily, one of the most talked about anime series of 2025, and its popularity is only growing with each passing month. After the incredible success of Solo Leveling Season 2, it is only natural for the fans to be heavily anticipating Solo Leveling Season 3. Most of the discussion in the Solo Leveling community is centered around Solo Leveling Season 3. However, while that is truly something to keep an eye out for, there are other more exciting things that fans need to turn their attention to. Recently, the author of Solo Leveling, Chugong, had an interview where he officially made clear the future of the Solo Leveling franchise. As fans know already, Solo Leveling’s web novel has already ended. Even the Manhwa for the series wrapped up quite some time ago.
Solo Leveling even received a new series in the form of Solo Leveling Ragnarok, and the web novel for it wrapped up earlier this year, with a Manhwa adaptation still ongoing. Now, it has been confirmed by Chugong that there is a big chance for Solo Leveling to return with an official sequel in the future, but there is a catch.
Solo Leveling Looks Set To Continue With A New Story
Chugong Wants To Continue The Series
- Ragnarok is officially confirmed to be a different universe
- Solo Leveling’s main continuation is yet to come
Most fans of Solo Leveling consider Solo Leveling Ragnarok as the sequel to the original story written by Chugong. However, as confirmed by the author, Ragnarok is just fan service. Chugong doesn’t consider it to be the true sequel of Solo Leveling.
I use the system, and the system uses me. — Sung Jinwoo
That said, it is also not non-canon. According to Chugong, Solo Leveling Ragnarok is just a different universe altogether, meaning the universe in which fans saw Jinwoo will have a different continuation altogether.
The most important part of the interview was when Chugong officially confirmed that he might consider returning with a new Solo Leveling sequel of his own. Here’s what he had to say:
Ragnarok was a spin-off created for fan service. I was curious to see how another author would write Solo Leveling. This story is part of the Solo Leveling universe, but it isn’t a direct continuation of the main plot. It’s more like one of many possible scenarios — similar to Marvel’s parallel universes. And of course, I’m also considering the possibility of writing a sequel myself.
Fans Should Expect A New Project Soon
Solo Leveling Might Get A New Web Novel
Right now, Solo Leveling is at the peak of its popularity after having blown up and fans are absolutely in love with characters such as Sung Jinwoo. It is the perfect opportunity for Chugong to make the best use of this popularity and try to craft a new story so that Solo Leveling doesn’t fade into nothingness. The possibility of Chugong writing a new Solo Leveling sequel is real. If it were to happen, fans would most likely see Sung Jinwoo as the protagonist once again, with familiar characters all around him being central to the plot as well.
Solo Leveling has two seasons out right now, one with 12 episodes, and the other with 13, for a combined episode count of 25 episodes available to watch right now. The series can be streamed on Crunchyroll for fans to enjoy while awaiting any more news concerning the third season. For fans who can’t wait for season 3 to come out, checking out the manhwa might be a great option.
