The quest to defeat 1,000 trainers in Pokémon Legends: Z-A can be annoying. One player, however, managed to reach over 1,000 battles in what’s probably the most lore-accurate way possible while also being the most inefficient method imaginable.

They shared on the Legends ZA subreddit that they’ve faced Jacinthe, the battle-obsessed leader of the SBC, over 1,100 times. Jacinthe is the NPC who, during the story, forces the main character to enter her tournament at Hotel Richissime after constantly interrupting them during an important Rogue Mega Evolution hunt. As any spoiled rich person would probably do, she ignores the world around her to put her need to battle others first. So it makes sense that she would accept the same challenger, again and again.

While you only face Jacinthe once during the story, you can play her indefinitely after completing over 20 Reward Matches in the Infinite ZA Royale. She invites you to “Le Super-Tournoi de Jacinthe O”, a bracket-style, single-elimination tournament that pits you against her in all four stages, meaning four straight matches every time.

She has six Fairy types over Lv. 70 in her team, which makes battles go long and turns the tournament into a slow, grinding slog. In the time it takes to battle Jacinthe once, you could play at least three battles in the Infinite Z-A Royale or twice as many low-level Restaurant Le Nah battles that players typically use for the 1,000-battle quest.

But playing Jacinthe 1,000 times is finally letting her have fun. As proven by this brave and relentless player, she never gets tired of it, so facing her over and over in her made-up tournament is the most lore-accurate way to complete this quest.

When you unlock Jacinthe’s endless tournament, you’ve already played hundreds of battles through the story and Infinite Z-A Royale. Maybe this trainer is Jacinthe incarnate, or the person who inspired Game Freak to create her character.

If you’re obsessed with battling the same trainer repeatedly, there’s your challenge. According to the player, they earned 200,000 to 300,000 PokéDollars per hour, so there’s an upside to getting this obsessed.
