The Roots update in PEAK is full of glowing plants, strange fungi, and foods that don’t always behave the way you’d expect. You’ll even find some mysterious mushroom-like berries, called Shroomberries, that can help or harm you. These colorful little fruits aren’t just for survival, though. If you’re working towards the Advanced Mycology Badge in PEAK, you will need to find and eat five types of Shroomberries in a single run.
How to Find Shroomberries in PEAK
Shroomberries are a new item that can be easily found in the Roots biome in PEAK. This map is a guaranteed spawn till November 17, 2025. They’re easy to identify by their distinct colors and sometimes appear in clusters, letting you collect two or three different ones in one spot.
Shroomberries grow on the ground and up the slopes of the biome’s massive fungal cliffs. You can easily spot them by their bright, glowing colors. Eating a Shroomberry restores hunger and gives a bit of stamina. Unfortunately, it also adds a small amount of spore damage. As such, you should use Shroomberries carefully if you’re already infected.
Types of Shroomberries
There are five different Shroomberries you can find in the Roots biome. Each Shroomberry has a unique pattern that helps you tell them apart.
- Red Shroomberry
- Green Shroomberry
- Blue Shroomberry
- Purple Shroomberry
- Yellow Shroomberry
Red and yellow Shroomberries usually have positive effects, while green and blue ones tend to be harmful. Purple can swing either way, depending on the map. Effects include things like faster climbing, low gravity, or even temporary invincibility. Just remember that you could just as easily get blinded, numbed, or launched into the air by a fart cloud.
Some players have also noticed that their effects change depending on the current map.
How to Get the Advanced Mycology Badge
To get the Advanced Mycology Badge, you have to eat all five Shroomberry types during a single run. The main challenge is finding all of them before you die or run out of stamina. Their spawns are random, so it’s mostly about exploring every corner of the Roots biome. Keep your eyes on tree branches, cliff ledges, and even the grass to spot their glow.
Cooking your Shroomberries on a stove or campfire helps in reducing negative effects. This makes them a bit safer to eat.
Once you’ve consumed each type, the Advanced Mycology Badge unlocks instantly. You’ll be rewarded with the Antlers.
