Fallout Season 2 Needs Cazadores as Much as It Does Deathclaws

Fallout Season 2 Needs Cazadores as Much as It Does Deathclaws

Amazon’s Fallout TV show is one of the most recent and successful live-action adaptations of a popular video game franchise. While such adaptations previously had something of a stigma attached to them, more modern interpretations like the Fallout TV series and HBO’s The Last of Us brought these IPs into the medium in a positive way. Debuting last year, Fallout Season 1 was highly praised by critics and fans for its satisfying tale that hit all the right marks and beats associated with Fallout‘s world.

The trailer for Fallout‘s second season dropped earlier this summer and gave fans a glimpse of what the next chapter of Lucy, The Ghoul, and Maximus’ adventures holds in store. One of the most notable inclusions in it was the former two coming face to face with a Deathclaw. And while that prospect is certainly exciting, given that the creatures are some of the most iconic in the franchise, the fact that the next season will also focus on the city of New Vegas makes a case for it not to forget about one of Fallout‘s other infamous monsters: Cazadores.

Fallout season 2 will premiere on December 17.

Fallout Season 2 Skipping Cazadores Would Be a Big Missed Opportunity

Deathclaws are no doubt one of the most recognizable and deadliest Fallout monsters, being introduced in the very first game in 1997 and included in each title since. Depicted as the apex predators of the wasteland, they are usually the biggest threats around, and unprepared players will swiftly find themselves falling prey to them. In-universe, even hardened survivors have a healthy and justified fear of Deathclaws. The Ghoul, who normally displays grace under pressure and a general badass attitude, is befittingly shown hightailing it away as a Deathclaw is honing in on them.

Cazadores Are Just as Much of an Iconic Fallout Creature as Deathclaws

While they were a completely new foe at the time, the Cazadores in Fallout: New Vegas quickly built up a reputation to rival even Deathclaws. This was due both to their characteristics and how they were integrated into the setting and level design. It’s likely that many players who attempted to head straight for the Lucky 38 casino on the New Vegas strip along the most direct route ran into a terrifying roadblock in the form of a swarm of these killer insects. New Vegas‘ Cazadores presented a formidable organic barrier that suggested fans explore and level up more before tackling them and the main mission, becoming known as some of the most dangerous creatures to roam the Mojave and Fallout‘s world.

Fallout Season 2 Seems Compelled to Have a Cazador Encounter

Fallout‘s main characters heading to New Vegas provides a perfect opportunity for the show to recreate the experience described above that many players likely had upon an initial playthrough. As the cast make their way to the glimmering city, they could be beset upon by Cazadores, forcing them to retreat and rethink their approach. This could perhaps result in them having to take a longer route around, parallel to the game, and one that sees them bump into other recognizable characters and locations. However the show treats them, they are a vital part of the overarching vibe for Fallout: New Vegas.

Given that it’s confirmed Lucy and The Ghoul will be dealing with Deathclaws in the upcoming storyline, it would also be appropriate for them (or potentially other characters) to come up against another of the series’ most imposing creatures. And since Cazadores are so closely associated with New Vegas, the next season featuring an encounter with them would be a faithful inclusion; that’s what fans of the show have come to expect.
