Black Ops 7 ending, explained: Who was the guy at the end?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s campaign is a short but adventurous romp through some trippy hallucinations and a whole lot of Avalon.

Once it comes to an unceremonious end and before you’re thrust into Avalon once more for the fun Endgame PvE mode, one last cutscene plays during the credits and teases what may be coming next in the game’s storyline.

In BO7’s final campaign mission, Mason and co. save the day by destroying Emma Kagan and The Guild’s facility that they were planning to use to deploy the Cradle biological weapon all over the world, and Kegan has been captured and brought into custody to face justice.

But with Emma Kagan captured, it appears The Guild is still active and someone new is in charge, judging by the reveal we get in the final scene. And so this is not the end.

Who was the man at the end of the BO7 campaign?

The man at the end of BO7’s campaign in the teaser scene during the credits is an unknown, new character to the Black Ops franchise, or at least someone who has been minor in the shadows up until this point.

The subtitles reveal that his name is Dorne, but beyond that, we don’t know much else just yet. We can see that he is a part of The Guild judging by the robot characters and technology around him, so it appears Treyarch is setting him up to be the new villain moving forward.

Black Ops 6’s campaign had a similar ending that teased a character named Jackson Caine. Caine ended up being one of the driving forces behind seasonal cutscenes and content drops throughout BO6, and so Dorne will likely have a similar role moving forward throughout the next year or so of lore drops.

This time around, though, Treyarch will be able to use content drops in the 32-player PvE mode Endgame to expand the story, so the potential for a more cohesive narrative to take place for the next 10 or so months is highly possible.
