In those tougher missions, your screen can get swamped by the sheer number of enemies and the numbers themselves (those that indicate damage dealt). Add the fact that Restored Relic is a popular launcher for clearing mobs and you’ll get a seizure-inducing party on your screen. It comes as no surprise that the Restored Relic explosion effects are getting on everyone’s nerves, especially when your whole squad starts blasting, but there is something you can do to remedy the situation in The First Descendant.
Each shot from the Restored Relic Launcher makes a considerable explosion. Add the fact that you can increase the Fire Rate of the weapon so it can unload its whole magazine in a matter of seconds, and you’re looking at Michael-Bay-levels of fireworks. Especially if multiple Gleys are involved, as they can simply not use the ammo when firing. It turns your screen almost completely white, and some rigs can’t even handle the amount of stuff that’s happening, leading to lagging and crashes.
The First Descendant Players Want Something to Be Done About All the Restored Relic Explosion Effects
Players started reporting more and more instances of excess special effects, due to all the explosions, especially in Void Ersion missions. For example, one player, named tjc_dev on Reddit said: “I have just played multiple runs of Void Erosion Level 27 farming it for Cores… the problem has been that I cannot see any targets when there are two Gleys with Restored Relics. The special effects (SFx) just fill the screen.”
Others add that it’s not only Restored Relic’s fault but other weapons as well. “It’s not just RR- the visual noise is there for many things, even just basic numbers spam covering your target at high fire rate. I can’t see what I’m shooting at most of the time on non collosi sized targets and weakpoints, it’s obnoxious. It’s worse in a group where I can’t even control what others are using. Greg’s, Wave of Light, Perforator are all offenders, I’m sure there are others that just aren’t popularized…“ said Adventurous-Ad6203. A lot of players ask for a way to reduce the amount of explosions or simply turn them off. Luckily, there is a way to do something about it.
How To Lessen Explosion Effects
You can lessen the amount of explosion on see from your options menu. This was added way back in the 1.2.4 Update when we got Ines and Weapon Cores. They took all the attention, so other, smaller improvements, got sidelined.
In that update, we got the option to turn the back weapons on and off, and the option to adjust the explosion effects. From the game’s menu (the one you get by pressing Esc on the keyboard), go to Options, and then Display.

Scroll down until you find the “Show explosion effect during combat”. You get to choose between 4 options:
- Show all Targets
- Include Squad Members
- Include Party Members
- Include Only Yourself
There is no option to completely remove the explosion effects, the best you can do is have the game only show your own. At least that way you’ll be spared from Gleys in your team, holding the fire button and blasting like it’s no one’s business and damaging your eyesight. We doubt that Nexon will ever add the option to remove the explosions completely, but stranger things have happened.
