What are we all playing this weekend?

Saturdays are for trying to befriend the local foxes. There are a bunch living under the hedge by the flat. I saw a big fat fox sitting in the road this week, like a cross between a rising bollard and a garden gnome. I wonder if I can entice them into gathering outside my window with slices of Hovis. Anyway – any weekend plans? Here’s what we’re clicking on.

I am taking a break from Assassin’s Creed Shadows to go back to the true shinobi game that makes my heart flutter – Ninja Gaiden Black 2. Naoe is cool and all, but can she do a 100-hit combo like Ryu Hayabusa? I think not! Anyway, I put Ninja Gaiden 2 away earlier this year as all the big releases came out in February and March, and going back to its straightforward, ‘beat the crap out of demons’ levels after so many ponderous open worlds is very nice.

I’ve settled into a cosy rhythm of playing Hades 2 when I’m locked in and ready to experience the crushing heartbreak of fumbling what I’d just declared as the run, then switching over to The Outer Worlds 2 when my ego can’t take it anymore. I think I’ll probably continue that trend. I’ve got a lot of ancient gods to humble, and way more oblivious shopkeepers to rob by crab walking around their deserted shops, tirelessly hunting for that one perfectly broken corner where the AI somehow, inexplicably, cannot see me.

Ollie
We recently learned that Ollie is secretly some kind of skate-boarding manoeuvre – he has been temporarily banned from RPS while we ascertain that he isn’t going to break any furniture.

I’m still ensconced in the freshly updated Stalker 2. A lot of its more materialistic post-launch additions continue to elude me – a pair of night vision goggles, in particular, might have spared many a shredded nerve – but it runs better and there’s clearly more going around the Zone, roaming NPC-wise.

I’m visiting family this weekend so I’ll only have a slither of time on Saturday morning and Sunday evening to play, in which I’ll try and fit in some rounds of Monsters Are Coming! Rock & Road.

It plays a little like Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor’s Escort Duty missions by way Mortal Engine’s mobile cities. Instead of shepherding a drill through bug-infested mines, you’re protecting a small town on wheels that you expand with fire turrets, farmland, and minion-summoning barracks.

If I find myself with any additional time between baking an orange and almond cake for the niblings and a cowboy stew for dinners next week, I’ll be playing Kaizen: A Factory story and News Tower. But both games feel like they demand a little more headspace than I have available right now.

Edwin
Two probably ace horror games landed on my desk last thing Friday. I can only hope my neighbours are braced for 12 hours of continuous sobbing and screaming… before I start playing those games on Sunday. First I have to fix the leak in the bathroom.

And you, reader dear, what are you playing this weekend?…
