An ARC Raiders player who attempted to take on the Matriarch solo has lost over 100k worth of weapons and gear before the battle even began, falling to their death during a fight with two Hornets. While this unlucky ARC Raiders player was prepared for an intense battle with the game’s biggest and deadliest boss, it all ended pretty prematurely, with a Hullcracker, a level 4 Venator, multiple Wolfpack grenades, and more all being lost with one hilarious mistake.
Taking on either the Matriarch or the Queen in ARC Raiders is no easy feat, even with a full squad of players. And while ARC Raiders is an excellent game to play solo, it makes these boss fights all the more daunting. Thankfully, there are a plethora of powerful weapons at players’ disposal, including the Hullcracker, the Jupiter Sniper Rifle, Wolfpack grenades, and more. However, they can be seriously difficult to come by and are incredibly expensive to purchase from Traders, which makes this player’s clumsy death all the more unfortunate.

ARC Raiders has an interesting blend of inspirations, as the developers at Embark have revealed how its core gameplay evolved throughout development.
ARC Raiders Player Loses Gear in Hilarious Death
In an attempt to take on the Matriarch solo, one Reddit user has lost some incredibly valuable weapons and gear, including ARC Raiders‘ popular Hullcracker grenade launcher. However, this battle ended before it even began, as the player took a handful of shots at the Matriarch, only to be attacked by two Hornets. These annoying ARC enemies are small but mighty, and in an attempt to take them out quickly, this player accidentally dove straight off the edge of the Dam, plummeting to their death with 100k worth of items.
As the Matriarch is currently the most difficult battle in the game, this player was kitted out with a level 2 Hullcracker, 2 Wolpack grenades, 2 Ziplines, 2 Jolt Mines, 3 Barricades, 400 Medium Ammo, plenty of healing items, and a level 4 Venator with multiple attachments. Although the latter was recently nerfed in a new ARC Raiders update, it is still one of the game’s best and most beloved weapons, and as it is no easy feat coming across a Blueprint for the Venator, this could have been a serious setback.
It may have been a premature end to what could have been an epic battle, but it’s funny experiences such as these that have kept players coming back for more. ARC Raiders has even beaten Battlefield 6, the best-selling shooter of the year, in terms of active players on Steam. Although many believed it was crazy for Embark to release a new shooter between Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, the studio’s gamble appears to have paid off massively, as ARC Raiders has received rave reviews, flown to the top of the Steam charts, and even been nominated for Multiplayer Game of the Year at the 2025 Game Awards.
