World of Warcraft has reduced the amount of experience required to level up between levels 70 and 80 by roughly 80% in Patch 11.2.7. Though it didn’t make any mention of this change anywhere in the patch notes, World of Warcraft fans will find it is significantly easier to speed through the last 10 levels in the game right now.
Patch 11.2.7 of World of Warcraft is officially live, bringing with it a bunch of exciting content. While a new story chapter prologue for the Midnight expansion, a Lorewalking chapter pertaining to the Elves of Quel’Thalas, and the Pandaren Heritage Armor questline are all exciting additions, undoubtedly the most highly anticipated feature is the arrival of early access for Player Housing.
World of Warcraft Reveals Twitch Drops for 11.2.7 Update
The release of World of Warcraft Patch 11.2.7, The Warning, is imminent, meaning a brand-new Twitch Drop will soon be up for grabs.
Leveling Experience from 70 to 80 Reduced in WoW Patch 11.2.7
However, there is an undocumented change from World of Warcraft Patch 11.2.7 that has revolutionized the leveling process. Though not mentioned in the patch notes, the experience required to level up starting at level 70 has been massively reduced. The amount varies from level to level, but the reduction increases as one goes; what starts as a 74% reduction at level 70 increases to a whopping 83% by level 79, making the last 10 levels of the current cap extremely easy to speed through.

This change was almost certainly done in anticipation of Midnight. The level cap is going up in the new expansion, and if the beta is any indication, it will take WoW players about 11 hours on average to go from level 80 to 90.
Experience requirement reductions like this are not unheard of at this stage of an expansion, but it still comes as quite a surprise right now, as there is still about three months until Midnight releases. The next World of Warcraft expansion arrives on March 2 next year, so most fans would have expected such an adjustment to happen during the Pre-Patch event, likely arriving on or around January 20. This simply means players will have nearly two extra months to prepare their characters for the next leg of their World of Warcraft adventure.
Best Ways to Hit Level 80 Before World of Warcraft: Midnight
These changes have taken an already-great time to level up and transformed it into an incredible one. Legion Remix is ongoing through January 19, which provides fans a pathway to get up to 400% bonus experience from all sources during the World of Warcraft event. What’s more, players can also get an additional 250% at level 70 simply by speaking with Moratari, for a total of 650% before other bonuses. This was originally to navigate the high experience costs at those levels, but after this reduction, a single Legion Remix quest turn-in after level 70 can shoot someone up two or more levels.
Outside of Legion Remix, there are plenty of efficient places to level up right now as well. The World of Warcraft 21st anniversary event runs until December 7, providing an additional 20% experience boost that stacks with other bonuses. With this experience reduction and boost combined, fans can get nearly half a level simply by logging in and answering the daily trivia question provided by Historian Llore or Ju’pa on each character, all while earning a few Timewarped Badges in the process.
Were this still not efficient enough, a new Turbulent Timeways event just began in World of Warcraft Patch 11.2.7. By completing four Timewalking dungeons, players can get the Mastery of the Timeways buff, which provides an even further 30% bonus to experience gains that can be refreshed by clearing another dungeon. Needless to say, between the experience requirement reduction and abundant sources of XP boosts, fans should not have any trouble getting several characters to max level ahead of the Midnight expansion.
