NBC’s The Office will live on… in Fortnite

Bears. Beets. Battle Royale. This likely wasn’t on your 2026 bingo card, but Epic Games has teased Fortnite‘s latest collaboration, and it’s a bit of an oddity: The Office is seemingly coming to Fortnite. Yes, that The Office.

Details on Fortnite‘s crossover with The Office haven’t been revealed just yet, but if it gives players a Dwight Schrute skin or a stapler-in-Jell-O back bling, it will put it a couple levels above The Office‘s other video game. Just don’t expect the entirety of the Fortnite island to be re-imagined as Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Really, all we know at this point is this: The official Fortnite account posted a photo of beets on Tuesday, along with the words “Build. Beets. Battle Royale.” That’s a reference to an episode of The Office from season 3, “Product Recall,” in which Jim Halpert dresses up as Dwight and confounds his workmate with the phrase “Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica.”

The Office ran on NBC for nine seasons, from 2005 to 2013. Based on the BBC series of the same name, The Office is a mockumentary-style sitcom that follows the everyday work lives of employees at the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. The show’s popularity has endured, thanks to multiple international remakes, endless rewatchability on streaming services like Netflix and Peacock, and the recent spinoff The Paper.

While an Office collab might seem a bit strange, Epic Games tends to embrace a wide range of properties when it comes to what makes sense for Fortnite. From the Segway scooter emote and an entire The Simpsons Battle Pass, to skins of Kim Kardashian, Sabrina Carpenter, and even a handful of WWE superstars, Fortnite goes out of its way to cater to fandoms it sees a market in. And Universal Television has already done some odd pairings with The Office, including a Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair drop last year. So instead of wondering how this collab came to be, start thinking about who should be in the inevitable second wave of skins.

And now that we know sitcoms are on the menu for Fortnite, I’ve got a great idea for a TGIF Battle Pass. Epic, call me.
