“Not Cool, J.O.E.L!” Some Helldivers 2 Players Are Quite Salty as the GM Foils Their Plans for the Major Order

“Not Cool, J.O.E.L!” Some Helldivers 2 Players Are Quite Salty as the GM Foils Their Plans for the Major Order

Oof, what a mess! As you know, the latest Major Order presented the players with a new trolley problem. Amazingly, the whole community united and decided to have their cake and eat it too, as the players agreed to defend the buffer planet (Bekvam III) at all costs. They did so, and for an entire day, they kept perfecting strategies on how to keep the bots away. However, J.O.E.L ruined all the plans of Helldivers 2, mere hours after the first defense was done.

How Did J.O.E.L Destroy Helldivers’ Plans?

Let’s start from the beginning! So, the latest Major Order started with the bots’ attack on Bekvam III. However, Bevam III isn’t the Objective of this MO. Helldivers were given two Objectives, but they had to choose one. First, Julheim, where they would save young adults. Second, Duma Tyr, where they’d get Gas Mines. Bekvam III was supposed to be just a buffer, giving players enough time to decide what they’d sacrifice.

Helldivers flipped the script and instead of letting Bekvam III fall, they defended it. They went on to defend Charon Prime, so they’d prevent an attack on Charbal-VII, which would give the bots another way to access Julheim. A solid strategy, right?

Well, J.O.E.L didn’t appreciate that Helldivers tried to create their own narrative. Thus, the second attack on Bekvam III was launched, several hours after the first defense had succeeded. Helldivers gathered on Bekvam III, Charon Prime fell, and an attack on Charbal-VII was launched.

At the time of writing this article, both the defense of Bekvam III and Charbal-VII, as well as the liberation of Charon Prime seem to be doomed. J.O.E.L managed to split the Helldivers 2 players who were previously fighting on Charon Prime into three groups, each fighting a losing battle on a different planet, thus completely obliterating any plans and strategies.

Players Are Disappointed in J.O.E.L

Helldivers aren’t even mad, they’re just… disappointed. Well, that’s not entirely true, as many players are actually quite angry that the community finally managed to unite and create a solid plan just for J.O.E.L to ruin it in one move.

One player, discgolfn1, noted: “Why you gotta do us like that Joel? I can’t believe we put our monkey brains together and used the tools given to us by AH to have a master-class strategy to possibly save both planets, only for Joel to tell us to go f**k ourselves. I’m a little salty, but it’s also hilarious”.

Some players were cruelly reminded that they have no control over what happens in the game. MJR_Poltergeist stated: “The illusion of player agency and choice. DSS is not for well-crafted strategy, it is only for buffs. We almost got to do something cool without being told to. Instead we get yet another “don’t get the mines” meme”.

Still, some hope remains. The current strategy is for all the players to defend Bekvam III. If Helldivers succeed, the next stop is probably Charon Prime, as it’s a gambit planet. In other words, the liberation of Charon Prime would stop the attack on Charbal-VII. So, let’s get to it! We’ll be diving on Bekvam III for the time being, will you join us?
