There are thousands upon thousands of Marvel characters. According to some sources, the total number of characters since the first issue dropped is well over 80k, of course, that includes every character that has ever appeared, not just the main ones. Now, it wouldn’t make much sense of any of the one-offs to appear in Marvel Rivals, but there are also some recurring characters that the players just wouldn’t want to see in the game.
Some Characters Just Shouldn’t Be in Marvel Rivals
Let’s face it, the majority of Marvel characters will never make their way into this game. The current roster consists of 37 Heroes. The devs announced that they’d add two more Heroes every Season, and a Season lasts around three months. So, earning a spot on the Marvel Rivals roster is quite an honor. The list is lengthy, as expected. Some of them are quite niche, while the others would just break the game if they were added.
Starting off strong, the most voted for suggestion was ForgetMeNot. Who? One player, swarnim38, explained: “The guy from X-Men whose ability is being forgotten the minute you look away from him”. Oh, yeah, that sounds… vaguely familiar. Even though it would be hilarious to see this somehow implemented in the game, it would probably break it.
Another game-breaking mutant on the list would be Isca. A player, raosion, noted: “Her mutant power, and I am not exaggerating, is literally, “I can not lose.” The universe, probability and reality will bend over backwards to ensure she always wins”. Would she just switch sides if she were on a losing team? Or would she guarantee the victory?
Next up… Aunt May and Uncle Ben. Even though they’ve appeared in this franchise multiple times over the years, they wouldn’t be able to contribute a lot. Well, some players disagree on that point.
One of them, v3ruc4, stated: “Could have some interesting team-up with Spider-Man. E.g. every time Uncle Ben dies, Spider-Man’s damage output is temporarily increased due to rage. Or the enemy Spider-Man gets stunned for a few seconds”. BlockoutPrimitive added: “Suicidal Uncle Ben running off the maps or straight into the enemy team. New meta”.

Players Want to See More Bad Guys
Naturally, the discussion progressed into something more. Marvel Rivals players listed not only which characters they wouldn’t want added, but entire classes. As always, many players pointed out that there were too many Duelists, or rather too few Strategists and Vanguards.
On another note, according to many players, there are simply way too many good guys in the game. Having some bad guys, such as the Green Goblin, would truly mix things up for the community. Ryan13200 noted: “For a game called Rivals, it feels weird that like 90% or the characters are heroes or hero adjacent. Desperately need more Marvel villains”.
Another player, Callmeklayton, added: “Even some of the characters who are typically thought of as villains (Venom, Magneto, Loki) are actually heroes or antiheroes in this game. The only true villain we have right now is Hela. Maybe Namor”.
Do you agree? Who wouldn’t you want to see in the game? There are some indications that the next Season will be centered around the Hellfire Gala, that could provide us with some good ol’ baddies. Meanwhile, we’ll see you out there, and enjoy the game.
