“Dammit Nexon!” The First Descendant Devs Share the Wrong Skill Icons in Their Latest Serena Teaser

Well, they’ve done it again. The First Descendant X page has just shared a Serena teaser post about her Skills, and everyone noticed that the Skill icons are, in fact, the same ones Ines has.

Serena is the upcoming Descendant, about to join the team with the Season 2 Episode 2: Beyond the Void update scheduled for March 13. She’s a Fire-based Descendant with some flying abilities (and looking suspiciously a lot like a well-known character from a different franchise). For the upcoming devlive, Nexon promised to reveal more details about Serena, like her playstyle, Skills, and other details. And just now, they posted a Serena “teaser” of sorts. However, the players were quick to notice an obvious similarity.

“Guess the Skills!” –  It’s Ines

On March 5, a day before the scheduled devlive (according to the GMT timezone), The First Descendant X page shared a post with an image of Serena, her Skill icons, and a text saying “Guess the Skills”. The accompanying text says: “Can you guess Serena’s skills just from her skill icons? Catch a sneak peek of her in tomorrow’s Dev Live stream!” What basically everyone noticed right from the start is that those icons already exist in the game – they are the same ones Ines Raya has for her Skills.

The skill icons in question are Ines’ Plasma Oscillation, Chain Lightning, Lightning Conductor, Snare Hunter, and Discharge (in that order).

Not the First Time The First Descendant Devs Mixed Up the Skill Icons

We’ve already seen blunders similar to this one. Earlier, before Keelan was released, the players noticed that one of his icons looked a lot like a Skill from another game. Thankfully, this time, it’s their own game, so no copyright breaches. Still, it is a silly blunder if there ever was one.

It wouldn’t be that much of an “issue” if they haven’t said ”…just from her skill icons?” If they’ve just put the same icons with the question asking: “Can you guess Serena skills?” without the last part, sure, it’s a bit low-effort, but fine.

Of course, this is nothing to get worked up for. No harm done; it’s just for getting some laughs. But it also is not the first time Nexon made a blunder like this. At the moment, the official post remains the same, and the icons are unchanged. We expect that they’ll change it as soon as someone over there notices the mistake (or the comments pointing it out).
