It has not even been a year since TFD went live, and it looks like the devs are already running low on ideas. The upcoming Colossus, Tormentor, is just a reskin of an exciting one and The First Descendant players are not impressed.
A huge update is one the way, adding more content to TFD, like a new Area, the long-awaited character rebalance, a new Descendant, and even some unpopular but necessary changes. And what’s a major update without a new boss for us to fight?
Tormentor Is About to Join the Colossi
During a recent broadcast, The First Descendant devs talked in detail about the Season 2, Episode 2: Beyond the Void update. What everyone was focused on was the details about Serena, but there was a lot more in the broadcast besides that. One of the major points was a new Colossus, called Tormentor.
The devs revealed details about the Tormentor, a new Abyss Colossus. It is an Electric Attribute boss, highly resistant to Electric and Fire damage, weak to Poison. During the showcase, we saw that there were a couple of AoE attacks that could spell doom to unaware players, and there were also “Plasma Cubes” that you could destroy to get buffs. Nothing groundbreaking, but also nothing to scoff at. The AoE lasers are shooting in a pyrmid-shape pattern, which obviously favors flying characters, ie, Serena, so she is (as expected) the obvious best choice for the Tormentor.
The First Descendant Fans Not Impressed With The Tormentor Design
While looking cool, we can’t deny the fact that Tormentor is just a reskinned Executioner/Pyromaniac, with yellow effects this time. Sure, it is not the first time devs just used the same model for a Colossus with different “effects”, but at this point, the fans want to see some more effort. Even the “Plasma Cubes” mechanic has already been done, ie, the Defiler has a similar one.
Nexon has posted an image of the Tormentor to hype the players up, but most of the comments are along the lines of, for example: ”So you guys don’t make new unique bosses anymore?” by Ibbythebeast510, or “Recoloured Executioner? Come on man…… What are you doing with all thhe money I give you over there? Design a new boss OMG” by cloudwhitehart.
On that last note, the players were quick to point out that designing a new Colossus takes months and months of work (with a number of “eight months” being mentioned several times). The devs did mention that some brand-new Colossi are on the way in Season 3, so let’s just give them a break.
