“Nothing Like Going on an Adventure With Your Best Friend!” Monster Hunter Wilds Players Are Modeling Their Palicoes After Their Real-Life Pets

If you have ever had a pet, you know the impact they have on one’s life. You take in a little creature, and with time, and lots of snuggling, it becomes one of your favorite companions. There really is something very special in sharing one’s life with an animal. As is tradition by now, Monster Hunter Wilds players love customizing their Palicoes to look like their pets. It turns out that having this option is quite meaningful to many players.

One More Adventure With One’s Beloved Pet in Monster Hunter Wilds

Did you know that the word Palico is reportedly a mashup of words “pal” and “calico”? These wonderful cat-like companions mean the world to some of the players (us included!). So much so that some players model their Palicoes to resemble their late cats.

One player, MikeLFEA, shared their heartwarming story. Sadly, this player’s cat passed away the day before MHW was launched. However, they payed homage to her by creating a Palico incredibly similar to her.

This player noted: “It’s been a very hard week for me having to put down my cat Jackie who was 15. I got her as a kitten right when I was really getting into the series with Monster Hunter Tri. I have always made her my Palico in any game I could. I’m so thankful that these games give you the ability to customize your kitty friend to join you in the fight. I’m unbelievably broken about loosing her, but having her by my side in this journey makes me feel like she’s not gone. She may be gone from this world, but her memory lives on forever while she’s fighting beside me. That gives me so much peace and I’m forever grateful for Monster Hunter for this”.

Players Share Stories About Their Palicoes

Of course, Monster Hunter Wilds is just another game in the series where players can customize their Palicoes. This has proven to be one of the most treasured feautures, according to some players.

Fueled-by-nostalgia noted: “My name/gamertag has changed a lot from MH4 to Wilds, but my palicos, palamutes, or seikret are always named after my deceased childhood pets”. Another player, Freya_Galbraith, stated: “My Palico is named and modeled after a cat i adored and lost many years ago now. Still love him”.

MrFrenzyPlant added: “My cat, Charlie, passed away in 2018. I’ve recreated him in World, Rise and now Wilds so we can keep having adventures together. I cried my eyes out for the first couple of hours of Wilds. Just a grown man, sobbing, while beating a big frog to death with a saxophone”.

We have to admit that we model our animals in games after our pets as well. So, if you see someone with a little (but fierce) completely black kitten, or, in other games a small, shaggy mutt with brown spots over eyes, and one on their back, come say hello!
