Grand Theft Auto 6 is arguably the most anticipated video game in history. As the release is (hopefully) getting closer and closer, the fans are wondering when the next trailer will drop. As it turns out, the devs have a marketing strategy for that, and it seems that the next GTA6 trailer will drop near the official release of the game.
You don’t have to be a fan of automobiles, theft, or video games to have heard of GTA, one of the most popular gaming titles of all time. First released in 1997, GTA has won over millions of players over the years. The last major release was GTA5 in 2013, meaning that the fans have been waiting for a sequel for almost 12 years. And now, with the GTA6 release expected near the end of 2026, the fans are asking about another trailer.
The Next GTA6 Trailer Will Drop Near the Official Release of the Game
On March 29, David Westin from Bloomberg Television interviewed Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two. They talked about gaming and, of course, Grand Theft Auto 6. When asked why the release date for GTA6 is such a carefully held secret, Mr. Zelnick replied:
“The anticipation for that title may be the greatest anticipation I’ve ever seen for an entertainment property, and I’ve been around the block a few times, and I’ve been in every entertainment business there is…and we want to maintain the anticipation and the excitement.
We do have competitors who will describe their release schedule for years in advance, and we found that the better thing to do is to provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window, in order to create that excitement on the one hand and balance the excitement with [unmet?] anticipation…we don’t always get it exactly right, but that’s what we’re trying to do!”
Well, a bit unusual strategy, but it works! According to this, we expect the next trailer for GTA6 to drop in the Summer, at the earliest.
