Crafting is a very useful mechanic in Resident Evil 7, as it lets you get more of the items you actually need, instead of keeping unused health or ammo in an item box for the entire game. You may still end up hoarding resources in case of an emergency, but not quite as many.
To do any crafting in Resident Evil 7, you need Chem Fluid or Strong Chem Fluid — nothing can be made without at least one of these reagents. The only other items you need for crafting after this are Gunpowder, Herbs, Solid Fuel, and Supplements. What type of Chem Fluid you combine these with determines what you craft, and making at least one of all crafting recipes in Resident Evil 7 rewards you with the “1st Place at the Science Fair” Trophy/Achievement. So hold on to those Supplements! They’re the rarest resource you can find.
How to Find the Red and Blue Key Cards in Resident Evil 7
Where to find the two key cards for the Testing Area door, and how to solve every puzzle on your way there.
Updated on February 25, 2026 by Jessica Orr: Crafting resources like First Aid Meds and ammo can keep you alive for longer in RE7, and is a particularly useful mechanic when you’re playing through Madhouse difficulty in RE7 thanks to how scarce resources are normally found. Thoroughly using the crafting system also rewards the “1st Place at the Science Fair” Trophy/Achievement, so there are plenty of reasons to pay attention to crafting in RE7. To keep things simple for you, we’ve updated this page with exactly what you get from all crafting recipes, and added pictures of the crafting process.
Chem Fluid Crafting Recipes in Resident Evil 7
Chem Fluid is more common than Strong Chem Fluid, so management of it as a resource is not as big a priority except very early in the game. Here are all the crafting recipes that use Chem Fluid in Resident Evil 7:
- 1 Chem Fluid + 1 Gunpowder = 10 Handgun Ammo
- 1 Chem Fluid + 1 Herb = 1 First Aid Med
- 1 Chem Fluid + 1 Solid Fuel = 100 Burner Fuel
- 1 Chem Fluid + 1 Supplements = 1 Psychostimulants
Unless you’re having difficulty seeing the area around you and are particularly prone to panicking whenever an enemy appears out of a dark corner, we recommend focusing on First Aid Meds as a priority, with ammo following closely behind. Psychostimulants are nice if you’re on the hunt for collectibles like Antique Coins and Bobbleheads, but relatively less useful than the other three items.
Strong Chem Fluid Crafting Recipes in Resident Evil 7
Strong Chem Fluid is more difficult to find, especially earlier in the game, so management of this resource can be crucial to your success. What you make with the Strong Chem Fluid should be a reflection of your strengths and weaknesses. If you’re not taking much damage, for instance, you should focus on making ammo rather than healing items.
Here are all the crafting recipes that use Strong Chem Fluid in Resident Evil 7:
- 1 Strong Chem Fluid + 1 Gunpowder = 10 Enhanced Handgun Ammo
- 1 Strong Chem Fluid + 1 Herb = 1 Strong First Aid Med
- 1 Strong Chem Fluid + 1 Solid Fuel = 2 Flame Rounds
- 1 Strong Chem Fluid + 1 Supplements = 2 Neuro Rounds
When you craft at least one of all the resources made with Chem Fluid and Strong Chem Fluid, you’ll unlock the “1st Place at the Science Fair” Trophy/Achievement.
