The Switch 2 launch games lineup encompasses a bit more than just a new Mario Kart.
When Nintendo formally unveiled the long-rumored Switch 2 in January, there was very little idea of what to expect at launch. Now that the June 5 Switch 2 release date is on the horizon, we have a fuller idea of what’s coming to the console on day one.
Yes, there’s a new Mario Kart called Mario Kart World, but there’s also sort-of-tech-demo Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour from Nintendo, and a number of significant third-party ports making their Nintendo debuts — including Street Fighter 6, Cyberpunk 2077, and Split Fiction.
If none of that takes your fancy, remember backward compatibility supports your original Switch library, while a number of Switch 1 games, including both Switch 1 Zelda games, will also get dedicated “Nintendo Switch 2 Editions” with visual upgrades. As well as the above, there are three GameCube games available at alaunch to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers only playable on Switch 2: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Soulcalibur 2, and F-Zero GX.
