“Baskinator, Nooo!” Helldivers 2 Community Manager Elicits a Strong Reaction From the Players by Saying an Update Isn’t Coming

Hopefully, you’ve read the title in Parker Posey’s iconic voice to ease the pain of not getting the update. So, what happened? Baskinator, one of the Helldivers 2 Community Managers, addressed the rumours of a surprise update on April 8. Sadly, she delivered some bad news, and players aren’t all too happy about it.

Baskinator Insists There Won’t Be an Update

A lot has happened in the Helldivers 2 community recently. Most notably, there have been some requests for improvement and new content. Given that the Illuminate haven’t expanded their vanguard since December, many players are tired of fighting the same five units over and over again.

So, they came up with a “plan”, or rather a rumor? When Ivis exploded, the Meridian Singularity lost even more momentum. Some players claimed that if the community stopped the Singularity completely, the Illuminate would have to interfere, thus new units would arrive. So, many players were dissatisfied when they saw the latest MO didn’t revolve around stopping the Singularity.

However, this community is nothing if not persistent. They came up with a theory that the MO was actually a red herring, and that the Illuminate would still arrive in time for the BAFTA Game Awards, on April 8. Why then? Well, the vanguard arrived during the Game Awards, so it makes sense? Flimsy, but many players relied on this theory.

Unfortunately, Baskinator, the CM, decided to nip these rumors in the bud. She took to the official Helldivers 2 Discord channel and cleared the air.

She noted: Just FYI before you all get too worked up: there’s no update coming today. The BAFTAs are tonight, but it’s not really the same kind of show as The Game Awards with announcements and trailers attached”.

Players Still Believe Helldivers 2 Will Get an Update

Now, funnily enough, the announcement that Baskinator made didn’t stop some of the Helldivers 2 players from believing the update was coming on April 8. Naturally, those players kept nudging the CM to admit the truth.

For example, while the CM was chatting away with the community, someone spelled out APRIL 8 in reactions on her comment. Another player noted: “April 8. I still want to believe”.

Poor Baskinator tried to stand her ground and insisted that what she was saying was true. She stated: “I’m trying to stop them from hyping into the void”. Thankfully, some players backed down and stopped insisting.

Now, we choose to believe the CM, even if it turns out the devs do surprise the community with an update. There is no reason why Helldivers shouldn’t trust her. So, we’ll be diving on Ustotu for the time being, the Major Order won’t complete itself. Will you join us? For Liberty and Super Earth.
