PS players have a soft spot for their favorite console’s main menu. So it is no wonder that many are rejoicing when they heard that more animated backgrounds have been added to the PlayStation 5 Welcome tab.
When Sony added Anniversary Themes, the fans went crazy for them and practically begged Sony to make them a permanent feature. Unfortunately, that did not happen, but you get the idea of how much Sony PlayStation users love to customize their home screens.
On a similar note, animated backgrounds for PS5 have been a highly requested feature for a while now. And it looks like Sony is finally caving in a bit, as animated backgrounds have appeared for some players.
New Animated Backgrounds Added to PlayStation 5 Welcome Tab
As it turns out, the latest PS5 update added animated backgrounds to some players. According to Genki on X: “PlayStation has silently rolled out new Animated Backgrounds for the PS5 Welcome tab to select users! New backgrounds for Ghost of Yotei, God of War, Stellar Blade, Demon’s Souls, Horizon and more have been added to Astro Bot which was there previously!”
Remember that these are just animated backgrounds, not full-blown themes, like the one we had for the anniversary. As always, Sony has been silent on these changes, not disclosing who gets these backgrounds, when, or anything else.
As you’d expect, players are already requesting specific games’ backgrounds to be added, like Marvel’s Spider-Man or Final Fantasy VII. Hopefully, this means that Sony will finally begin to listen to their players’ demands. Just like with the Anniversary Themes, it is not like they are making unreasonable requests. The “files” are already there; they just have to make them available. Here’s to hoping that Sony breaks the silence and gives us some official info soon.
