The players spent plenty of time on fire planets during the last couple of weeks, and some were truly annoyed by this fact. The battles of Popli IX and Wezen were both successful, but thousands of players sacrificed their lives for these achievements. Some even died under some very suspicious circumstances. As it turns out, some Helldivers 2 players were burned to death by an invisible fire.
Yes, the Fire Is Sometimes Invisible
Now, there’s been plenty of slightly weird bugs recently, such as the torsodivers, but none of them were quite as… lethal. If you fought on Wezen or on Popli IX, you might have been minding your business, spreading some Managed Democracy, and then… whoosh!
You were receiving fire damage, and no amount of diving stopped it. That is, if you were even lucky enough to have enough time to dive. Some players reported the damage was so extreme that they died mid-dive.
One player, onepistolbandit, captured the moment in a YouTube video. In the video, you can see that it took this fire only around 6 seconds to burn this Helldiver to death.
Nothing Can Fire Up Helldivers 2 Players as Much as an Annoying Bug
As you may have expected, the Helldivers 2 community wasn’t shy to complain about the invisible fire. The players took to social media and chastised the devs for creating this bug, or at the very least, for not fixing it.
One player, madeon, wrote: “FFS, it was invisible fire on the ground, and now it’s invisible mines. Can devs not break the game every patch or something?”. Svarog added: “The invisible fire effect is insanely annoying. I’ve got no idea how it even broke, it was fine for months”.
Another player joked: “Devs listened to my buff fire tornadoes take and added invisible fire tornadoes”. Others gladly joined in and harshly criticized the hardworking devs.
Now, we know bugs such as this one can be overwhelming and ruin players’ experience. Unfortunately, they do happen sometimes. We’re sure the devs are working on a fix, but developing a game is no easy feat, it might take a while.
In the meantime, if you don’t enjoy randomly burning to death, stay away from all the fire planets. Unless the next Major Order sends you to one, then, well, do your duty, Helldiver. And, try to have some fun. For Liberty and Super Earth.
