One Piece: Every Duo Stronger Than Luffy And Zoro

One Piece: Every Duo Stronger Than Luffy And Zoro

Ever since the first few chapters of the series, One Piece has quickly established its main duo, which is Luffy and Zoro. As the first official members of the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy and Zoro have been through more than anyone else, and the friendship and loyalty between them are unlike anything that fans can find in the franchise.

As such, they have also grown exponentially in power over the years, which has led to them comfortably becoming one of the most powerful duos in One Piece. However, they are still far from being the strongest, so in this article, let’s break down every single duo in the larger story that is stronger than Luffy and Zoro.

One Piece: A Complete Guide To The Named Swords (And Their Wielders)

There are many powerful and amazing swords in One Piece, and here is a list that breaks them all down.

Big Mom And Kaido Are A Force Of Nature

Former Yonkos

As two former members of the legendary Rocks Pirates, Big Mom and Kaido were some of the most powerful characters in the entire One Piece setting. Though they were never formally a duo in their youth, the two briefly teamed up in the Wano arc in order to find the One Piece treasure, creating one of the strongest alliances in the history of the world.

Their strength was so great that it took the combined forces of the Straw Hat Pirates, Heart Pirates, Kid Pirates, the Red Scabbards, the Minks, and all the reserve forces of Wano to take them down. Even after unlocking Gear 5, Luffy could only really defeat Kaido since Big Mom was preoccupied elsewhere with Law and Kid.

Rayleigh And Scopper Were Roger’s Greatest Crewmates

The Wings of the Pirate King

The Wings of the Pirate King are essentially the two main crewmates of the King of the Pirates and the ones who are closest to him in overall strength. The Wings of Roger were Silvers Rayleigh and Scopper Gaban, who have cemented themselves as legends of the One Piece world almost to the level of Roger himself.

Even with the current state of Luffy and Zoro, most fans believe that Rayleigh and Gaban are still stronger considering how they are both among the most potent users of Conqueror’s Haki in the series and have mastered its advanced forms. While Luffy has honed this power, Zoro is still very new to it, meaning that Rayleigh and Gaban are the stronger duo.

Every Major Shonen Anime’s Worst Arc

There are many incredible arcs within the major Shonen anime franchises, but each of them has one that’s far below the others in quality.

Shanks And Beckman Are Close In Strength

A Terrifying Pair

Of all the currently active Yonko crews, the Red Hair Pirates are seen to be the strongest and even have the largest cumulative bounty. While fans always believed that Shanks did all the heavy lifting, the end of the Wano arc confirmed that this incredible bounty is because every major member is fairly close in strength, which shoots up their notoriety tenfold.

Ultimately, nothing concrete can be said about the strength of Shanks and Beckman being greater than that of Luffy and Zoro due to their brief appearances, but because of their placement in the story, as well as the fact that neither of them have been fully seen in battle, most fans believe that Oda is hiding something incredible with regard to their true power.

Garp And Sengoku Are Living Legends

The Strongest Marines

Upon seeing the strength of many of the pirates of the last era, many have felt that the forces of the Marines have been lacking. Of course, this is except for Garp and Sengoku, both of whom are living legends of a bygone age who sport some of the greatest power that has ever been seen in the larger story of One Piece.

Both of these Marines are masters of Haki and can use the advanced forms of all three Haki types, with Garp being seen as the Marine equivalent to Roger and Sengoku as the equivalent of Whitebeard. In a hypothetical fight between them and Zoro and Luffy, there would be no question of whom the winner would be.

Rocks And Whitebeard Were A Feared Duo

The Heads of the Rocks Pirates

The Rocks Pirates followed quite an unconventional system with their crew in the sense that there was no clear hierarchy, since notorious pirates simply banded together to form a singular, powerful group to further their own goals. While this is true, at the head of everything was Rocks D. Xebec and by his side was Edward Newgate, better known as Whitebeard.

While there was no particular order in this crew, Rocks and Whitebeard definitely served as the main members whom the others did listen to, to an extent. While not a strict duo, the two were quite close, as could be seen in the battle against Imu on God Valley, where these two legendary pirates stood their ground against the great threat alongside Kaido.

Roger And Garp Once Had To Work Together

Unlikely Allies

One of the most iconic rivalries in the history of One Piece is the one between Roger and Garp. In the previous era, no two figures were as revered and iconic to their specific factions as these two, and they had fought many times in the past with no clear winner, cementing that both of them were equals and different sides of the same coin.

Although they have historically been enemies, Roger and Garp teamed up during the God Valley Incident in order to take down one of the most terrifying villains in the history of One Piece. When Rocks got Domi Reversi’d, both of these legends temporarily joined forces and used their mastery of Haki to take the monster down, almost killing themselves in the process.

Rocks And Harald Were The Strongest Of Them All

Unlikely Best Friends

When these two icons of the past first met, it was initially as enemies who clashed in the Holy Land. The shockwave from their clash spread over 5km, making it the strongest and largest Conqueror’s Haki clash that we know of, which happened between arguably the two most powerful characters in the previous era of One Piece.

Though they never really sailed together and were never really a duo in the traditional sense, Rocks and Harald fostered an unlikely friendship over the years, with both of them considering the other to be their equal and best friend. If Harald ever took up Rocks’ offer to join him, there wouldn’t be a force on the planet that could possibly stop them.
