“A Completely Different Experience!” Helldivers 2 Players Are Just Now Noticing How Important the Background Music Is

It’s a well-known fact that Helldivers 2 has a great audio design. The devs even received an award for it. However, some players have just recently noticed that playing Helldivers 2 without the background music is almost like you’re playing a different game. Have you tried it yet?

Turning the Music Off Is Quite… Sobering

We all have different tastes, and everyone experiences art (in this case music) differently. What is soothing to one person could easily be unsettling to another. And that’s all a part of the human experience. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try out different things to find out what suits you the best.

One Helldiver, SpecialistOne1650, recently urged the community to try something new. This player noted: “The game’s tone shifts from heroic to serious. Try it out”.

The OP elaborated: “I turned the music off after 900ish hours in game with the music playing all the time. The difference in game play feels something like Hell Let Loose, where there isn’t background music, just you and your interaction with the environmental. Made the game feel more real to me”.

Helldivers 2 Players Share Their Experiences

Everyone has the right to play any game exactly how they want. With this being said, we’d suggest at least trying to play Helldivers 2 without the background music. Surprisingly enough, the players are quite divided on how playing with no music made them feel.

Some players, like Caleger88, love keeping the music off. This player noted: “Yeah, I turned the music down and its changed the game for me, you can hear more of the world. With the exception of a Charger and some other enemies, unfortunately”.

On the other hand, some players found this experience eerie and uncomfortable. Krevro explained: “I tried it and was immediately turned off by it when the drop sequence was so awkwardly quiet. I need my Libertea”.

This could also change based on your mood at the time, like with anything else. Sometimes, we appreciate the quiet, as we’re able to concentrate better. However, in some cases, the game being too quiet is unsettling, and the background music can be soothing. So, if you haven’t tried this yet, we suggest you do. In the meantime, you’ll find us on the Squid front, will you join us? We can play together, in silence. For Liberty and Super Earth.
