Nintendo has a new Nintendo Direct coming this Wednesday, Nov. 12, but this one won’t be about games. (Sorry to the Kirby Air Riders fans hoping for another hour with Masahiro Sakurai.) Instead, Nintendo will debut the first official trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, next year’s sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, during the next Nintendo Direct.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Nintendo Direct will stream live on Wednesday at 9 a.m. EST/6 a.m. PST, featuring a longer look at Mario’s new galactic adventure.
Nintendo cautions that “no game information will be included in this presentation,” so if you’re thinking that Super Mario Galaxy 3 might get announced this week, check your expectations.
While details are slim, Monday’s announcement of a new Nintendo Direct does give us a small sneak peek at The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. New artwork shows a group of Toads taking part in a Mushroom Kingdom ceremony celebrating the stars, with Princess Peach’s castle appearing in the background.
Nintendo and Illumination announced and first teased The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in September, showing a snippet of footage from the 2026 animated feature. The film will be released on April 3, 2026, and will see actors Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek) reprise their respective roles. No word yet on who will voice Rosalina — nor Yoshi and Bowser Jr., two characters confirmed to appear in the film based on a recent leak.
A sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a certainty well before it was announced. The first film was a smash hit, earning $1.36 billion at the box office, making it the most successful video game adaptation ever, and fifth-highest-grossing animated film of all time.
