Many Helldivers have been excited about the possibility of weapon customization ever since the CCO of Arrowhead teased it back in August. However, plenty of leaks have shown that weapon customization was something the devs were actively working on. The recently leaked weapon skins may have further confirmed this, and Helldivers 2 might become more colorful.
According to Leaks, Weapon Skins Are Quite Polished
A YouTube channel, John Helldiver, recently shared a video named Helldivers 2 – Weapon Camo/Skins Showcase. In it, you can see Black, Arctic, Forest, and Desert skins on all of your favorite weapons. The video features the Accelerator Rifle, the Reprimand, the Liberator Concussive, the Scythe, the Scorcher, the Punisher Plasma, the Exploding Crossbow, and the Torcher. Also, the OP noted that another skin was in the files, but wasn’t working at the time. That skin was called Venus.
As per usual, the source behind these leaks is IronS1ghts, one of the most prolific Helldivers 2 leakers. IronS1ghts noted: “The shading seems to work perfectly on most weapons I tried it with, so it is surprisingly polished. This is a weapon customization feature, similar to attachments. It also has dedicated UI elements”. They added: “It is also worth noting that there are shaders for these skins to be applied to armor”.
The Leaked Skins Give Helldivers Hope for More Future Personalization
As you may have expected, the leaked weapon skins caused quite a commotion in the Helldivers 2 community. These leaks reassured players who were concerned that the devs had given up on the idea of weapon customization. The thing that the players are looking forward to the most is customizing and coordinating their armor and their weapons.
One player, darlthris, noted: “It’ll be nice to use this alongside armor and have a perfect match to maximize drip. Now just need the Armor Passives to be a choice then baked in the armor themselves and we truly have a very customizable, per-player experience”.
That sounds like an amazing idea, and we believe that many Helldivers would love to see this level of personalization in their favorite game. So, let’s give the devs some time to cook, we’re sure they have a similar vision for the future.
