Abyssal Rays Might Just Be the Best Abyss Gear for Light Attacks in Crimson Desert

Abyssal Rays is one of the best Abyss Gears for dealing damage in Crimson Desert, and players can get it relatively early on by visiting a black market trader outside of Demeniss City’s walls. The trader has his small shop set up along the exterior of the southeastern wall, and he will sell you the Abyssal Rays rune for about 40 Silver. This is easily worth the coin, as Abyssal Rays can be absolutely devastating when paired with other Abyss Gears affecting your Light Attack chain in Crimson Desert.

You can find Abyssal Rays by going to the vendor on the location marked on the map above. Go to the southeastern edge of Demeniss City, and you’ll find a Back Alley Shop next to some rocks near where the city walls bend. If you’re approaching from the east, the vendor is to the left of the city gate (refer to the map above for the location of a nearby Abyss Nexus).

The vendor sells Abyssal Rays for 40 Silver, which, depending on how far you are in the game, may be a bit too much. If you’re struggling with coin, you can always try going to the nearby Demeniss Wildlife Park southwest of the city. The park has a large number of nobles present, and they all have a small chance to have an entire Gold Bar in their pockets. Pickpocket those Gold Bars, then exchange them for 500 Silver at any bank in Pywel.

It’s also worth noting that if you haven’t finished Chapter 8 of the main story, Demeniss will be full of hostile soldiers that will try to kill you on sight. If you’re only interested in getting Gold at the park or buying Abyssal Rays from the Back Alley Vendor, ignore all the soldiers and avoid the main roads.

Abyssal Rays Effect

Abyssal Rays summons numerous laser beams to shoot your targets after specific Light Attack variants. To be specific, the beams will fire after you do the following:

  1. The final hit of your Light Attack chain.
  2. Aerial Light Attack.
  3. Dodge roll into Light Attack.
  4. Perfect dodge into Light Attack.

Abyss Gears that trigger off Light Attacks are especially strong when used with dual-wielded weapons in Crimson Desert. By using two weapons in each hand, you’ll be able to trigger these effects more often, and since Light Attacks don’t cost any Stamina, you won’t be tiring your character out as often compared to using Abyss Gears that trigger off of Heavy Attacks.

One thing to note about Abyssal Rays is that the range of these energy beams is fairly short. Unlike other Abyss Gears like Ator’s Orb or Crow’s Pursuit, you won’t be able to hit targets that are far away, or ones that get launched away from you with Abyssal Rays. This shouldn’t be much of an issue consider how you’ll be in melee range anyway, but it’s still worth taking note of.

Abyssal Rays deals tons of damage, and when you combine them with other gears (such as the ones that drop from the Reaper bosses in Demeniss), you’ll end up with an extremely powerful build that can make quick work of most enemies.
