Split Fiction is all the rage now and is the first EA game after 13 years to have a 90+ score on Metacritic.
Fans of couples/duo games rejoice, Split Fiction is out and is taking the gaming scene by storm. This game follows the adventures of two authors, Mio and Zoe, who jump between various fantastical worlds, trying to find a way out. The game has it all, and it looks like it struck home, as it already has great reviews, getting the coveted “Universal Acclaim” score.
Split Fiction Got a 90+ Score on Metacritic, Making it the First EA Game After 13 Years to Do So
Metacritic combines all the reviews of a product (like a video game, in this case) and gives an average score from 1 to 100. Most of the awesome games are somewhere around 85, with only a select few getting the covered 90+ score and the “Universal Acclaim” tag.
The last time an EA game had that kind of a score was Mass Effect 3, which was released in 2012 and is one of the best sci-fi games out there. It is interesting to note that it was also released on March 6, just like Split Fiction is now. Maybe there is something about that date that we don’t know.
As for the Split Fiction reviews, Eurogamer gave it a 100/100 score and said: “Fantastic from start to finish, Split Fiction is one of the most inventive and joyful co-op games to date, and a testament to the power of human imagination.” GamesRadar+ gave it 90/100, saying: “Split Fiction is another expertly crafted cooperative game from Hazelight that perfectly straddles two genres simultaneously and consistently introduces one good idea after another. “
And as for the “bad” reviews, there are a couple of 70/100 scores. For example, GamingBolt said: “Split Fiction pretty much nails it on the gameplay front, but falters regarding its predictable and flawed story. The one-dimensional villain and cliche character dynamic between Mio and Zoe can’t be ignored due to their presence through the adventure…”
Note that this is all based on Critic reviews, and User reviews will probably be added in a couple of days. But still, we expect that Split Fiction will remain at the top. The time is right for local co-op games to make a comeback.
