All pets in Heartopia and how to get them

Life-sim adventure Heartopia allows you to get different pets on your journey, but it will take some time for you to reach the point where you can start collecting them.

As of writing on Jan. 19, there are two types of pets you can adopt: a dog and a cat. I am not considering Oak-Oak as a pet for all the right reasons. Let’s look at how you can adopt a pet for the first time in Heartopia.

How to get a pet in Heartopia

Your first task is to reach D.G. Member Level 12. This achievement will take some time based on how you’re playing Heartopia. Once done, a new quest will lead you to Mrs. Joan and her Adoption Center.

To have a pet, you’ll need the Pet Care hobby. For starters, make sure to unlock the five basic hobbies: Cooking, Insect Catching, Bird Watching, Fishing, and Gardening. Once done, go to the Adoption Centre. Provide Mrs. Koan with a hobby Expansion Ticket to unlock the CatCaring and Dog Caring options.

The first option you get for a pet is a cat, followed by a dog.

Cat adoption explained

Speak with Mrs. Joan and select the options that refer to cats. There are three cats available for adoption. Interact with a cat, and you’ll get to pick them (if you like). Before you make your pick, you can view their breed, gender, and personality traits.

Once you’re sure of your decision, select Adopt. You can also choose to return and pick another one instead. Your selected cat will be sent to your home, and you can use the in-game smartwatch to keep track of them.

Dog adoption explained

When Mrs. Joan tells you about cats, ask her to speak again, and she will then introduce dogs as pets. The remaining procedure is pretty much the same as adopting a cat. Like cats, three options are available for pups. You can check their breed, gender, and personalities before confirming your choice.
