It’s been a while since the devs issued a major update. The last couple of patches mainly dealt with some issues and introduced even more bugs. The CEO of Arrowhead recently talked about performance issues and confirmed that the devs were working on various fixes. Well, another dev spilled the beans on what they were working on. The QA Lead, Joseph Gardner, answered some Helldivers 2 players’ questions on Discord, which turned into an unplanned Q&A.
The QA Lead Answers Helldivers’ Questions
We’ve often mentioned how wonderful and impactful it is that the Arrowhead developers interact with the player base directly. This way, both parties can get the answers and feedback they need. So, once again, we were glad to see someone from the dev team chatting with the players.
This time, the QA Lead, Joseph Gardner (aka Jojo), shed some light on the existing problems and answered some burning questions. Even though nothing grand was revealed, these exchanges still reassured the players that their favorite game was in good hands.
Starting off strong, Jojo addressed anti-aliasing. This dev noted: “No teasers, but Anti Aliasing is fixed and generally speaking I’m doing all I can to make sure as many bugs are fixed as possible. Performance is also getting a lot thrown at it”.
Jojo also revealed what the focus of the next update would be. The dev stated: “No dates I can share, I’m afraid. The next update will have as many bug fixes as possible”. So, dear diver, don’t hold your breath for an update, but have faith it will be a good one!
Steam Deck Performance and More Fixes!
All the Helldivers who are spreading Managed Democracy on their Steam Decks received some good news as well. Jojo said: “We have no official stance on Steam Deck, I believe, but we definitely would consider it a problem if Steam Deck performance degraded. The Steam Deck is awesome”.
Finally, one player, cablespark, asked: “When will they change held items like the black box and robot head being totally broken?”. Jojo answered: “If by ‘they’ you mean ‘us’, and by ‘change’ you mean ‘fix’, yes, as soon as I can get a repro of it. At 2pm today I’ve got an hour blocked out to check out that thread that went up the other day and ensure we have the bugs in there logged and in the pipe”.
Helldivers 2 players truly appreciate that the QA Lead took time from their obviously full day for a little Q&A. This shows that the developers are devoted to the game and to the player base.
