ARC Raiders developer Embark Studios has quietly reduced the recycle and salvage value of numerous ARC components in this month’s big Shrouded Sky update, which launched for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on February 24. The latest ARC Raiders update included plenty of balance adjustments, bug fixes, improvements, and more, but Embark seems to have left out a huge change from the official 1.17.0 patch notes.
After a rather disappointing update back in January, which brought about a controversial 1v3 matchmaking option and a lackluster Map Condition for Buried City, fans have been eager to see what Embark had in store for February’s patch, known as Shrouded Sky. In terms of content, the latest ARC Raiders update included tons for players to check out. The most significant addition in patch 1.17.0 is the new Hurricane Map Condition, which adds a deadly new weather condition for players to battle against. There’s also a fresh Raider Deck, new items, and two lethal new ARC enemies.
Marathon Just Solved ARC Raidersโ Biggest Problem, But it Sounds Too Good to Be True
Marathon’s efforts to prevent cheaters and hackers from ruining matches sounds good on paper, but ARC Raiders players know that seeing is believing.
ARC Raiders Quitely Nerfs ARC Components
Alongside tons of new content, February’s Shrouded Sky update also made some significant nerfs to popular ARC Raiders items, including Wolfpacks and Deadlines. While these items didn’t receive a nerf to how they perform, they are now more expensive to craft. But now players seem to have discovered even more nerfs, as it looks like certain ARC components, such as Bastion Cells, Leaper Pulse Units, Rocketeer Drivers, and many more, have had their recycle and salvage values cut in half. Although they now provide players with additional ARC Alloys when recycled, the number of Advanced Mechanic Components has been reduced from 2 to 1.
This change was seemingly left absent from the 1.17.0 patch notes, which has angered many fans. One user even responded by saying, “This to me is the worst part of the update,” while another called out Embark’s lack of communication on the change, saying any adjustments should always be in the patch notes, blasting it as “annoying as hell.” The post has thousands of upvotes and hundreds of comments, with users saying Embark is continuing to make ARC Raiders more difficult for solo players and some saying they are “nerfing the fun” out of the game.
Many players were also left massively disappointed with other nerfs included in Shrouded Sky, making these quiet adjustments all the more difficult to take. For those who haven’t had a chance to check out ARC Raiders‘ new update, Embark has altered the crafting requirements for numerous ARC-related items. The Wolfpack grenade, for example, now requires a Rocketeer Driver to craft, alongside the usual Explosive Compound and ARC Motion Core. Many believe this change makes the Wolfpacks “useless,” as they now require a component from an ARC enemy that they are predominantly used to kill in the first place.
Although Embark didn’t explain why it had made such changes, it’s possible that this could be an attempt to make ARC Raiders‘ boss fights more difficult. The studio recently admitted that it didn’t anticipate entire servers banding together to take down the likes of the Queen and Matriarch, which has resulted in these large ARC enemies being taken down much quicker than intended. With it now being much more costly to craft Wolfpacks and Deadlines, which are commonly used against large ARC, this may slow down the rate at which players can defeat them.
