As it approaches its second early access anniversary, Enshrouded gets a 1.0 release window for later this year

More and more as time goes on I feel that if I blink a whole two years will pass, and suddenly a game like Enshrouded, which is coming up to its second early access anniversary, will be gearing up for its proper 1.0 launch. While an exact date for the survival game’s full release hasn’t been locked in just yet, a new Road to Release video was shared by developer Keen Games detailing what you can expect leading up to said launch.

As of right now, the current plan for Enshrouded 1.0 is that it’ll arrive sometime in autumn (northern hemisphere), so it’s more of a release window. Ahead of that however is an update due out in spring, which will bring in version 0.8 of the game. This one will apparently be smaller in scope, with a big focus on quality, bringing in bug fixes and polish, balancing improvements, and more notably, the introduction of the Adventure Sharing feature. This will allow you to share anything you make in-game with others, if you so fancy.

When it comes to 1.0 in the autumn, there’s a few things you can expect, with new areas of the world map being unlocked as one example. Adventure Sharing will also get an update with the addition of things like traps, logic elements, spawners to the game’s building systems.

Criticisms of the game’s combat were acknowledged as well, so in turn the team is working on making it more technically deep, alongside enemy behaviour, balancing, and variety too. And on top of all of this, more free updates will come post-launch, but you can also expect some paid expansions too. Worth keeping in mind that any of this could change as the early access life is a fickle one!

Enshrouded is available to pick up in early access on Steam right now.
