Assassin’s Creed Shadows Review Embargo Lifts Soon

The release of the most anticipated game of 2025 is getting closer and closer. But before that happens, we will get to see some official reviews, as the Assassin’s Creed: Shadows review embargo lifts soon.

It is fairly common today for upcoming games to have an embargo on reviews. The reasoning is that allowing reviews to be posted whilly-nilly would “dilute” the hype, so the publishers opt to hold all reviews until a certain date, when they can generate the most hype and interest, usually a couple of days before the official release. That is the case with Assassin’s Creed: Shadows. Or rather, that is the case once more, as this is not the first time this game had the whole “review embargo” situation.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Review Embargo Lifts in a Couple of Days

According to various reviewers and game critics, the (final) review embargo for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows will be lifted on March 18. That is only two days before the game’s official release. For example, Destin Legarie has posted: “I am playing and will be reviewing Assassin’s Creed Shadows. I’m primarily playing on PC! Embargo is March 18th at 10am PT.”

As a reminder, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows is a pretty controversial game, even though it is not officially released yet. Gamers had a lot of “dissagreements” with the devs and some of their design choices. To add insult to injury, the release of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows has already been postponed twice, further damaging the trust some players have towards Ubisoft. On the other hand, others claim that it’s better to postpone the game than to release an incomplete product. We will know what side is right on this when the embargo lifts and we finally get to see if all the hubbub is justified: whether the game is actually good, or if those who condemn Ubosoft for “checking the boxes” were right all along.
