Battlefield 6 – All Major Changes Confirmed For Launch

Battlefield 6 had its official multiplayer reveal on July 31, where plenty of gameplay footage was shown off, and now the developer has revealed several improvements are planned for the game’s launch. This includes a complete re-work of the Assault class and a new training path for the Recon class.

The Battlefield 6 open beta arrives later this week, and it will give players an early look at the Class system, but the developer says it’s not the final adaptation. “After the open beta has concluded, there will be more opportunities to shape the class experience together before launch through upcoming Battlefield Labs play sessions,” the developer said in a new community update.

You can find all the announced changes coming to Battlefield’s launch below. Battlefield 6 launches on October 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Our hands-on time with the game suggests Battlefield 6 is shaping up to be a strong successor to the beloved Battlefield 3 and 4.

Re-worked Assault class

The Assault class is getting a re-work to place greater emphasis on team play and better differentiate it from the Support (medic) class. The Adrenaline Injector, which initially offered a self-healing effect, is being updated to instead clear and boost resistance to flash and stun effects. It will also enhance tolerance to explosive and incendiary damage and improve player-movement speed.

Commanding Presence will replace Enhanced Mobility as the new Signature Trait. This trait speeds up capturing objectives for nearby squad members and takes players out of combat status more quickly.

Even the gadgets are getting updated for the Assault class. The Spawn Beacon was originally from the Recon class, but it’s getting renamed to Deploy Beacon, and it will now be part of the Assault class gadget pool.

“By moving it (Deploy Beacon) to the Assault class, we’re intentionally redefining it as a teamplay tool for frontline flanking and coordinated squad movement,” the developer said.

A completely new gadget is also being introduced. The Assault Ladder is a versatile tool that provides squads with access to previously unreachable areas, functioning as either a ladder or ramp depending on deployment angle.

Engineer class will be monitored

The developer says it’s pleased to hear balanced responses in regard to the Engineer class, and the class will still be monitored.

“We’ll be closely monitoring their toolkit’s performance in large-scale battles and are keen to hear your thoughts on whether playing as an Engineer feels impactful and rewarding.”

Support class will also be monitored

The Support class received a generally positive response. However, the developer said it will still be focusing on the refresh rate of supply crates and how well the Support’s signature weapon buffs contribute to the flow of the game.

Recon is getting a new training path

“For Recon, we saw the opportunity to strengthen the disinformation and sabotage component of its role,” the developer said. “With that in mind, we set out to redefine one of Recon’s training paths by removing Pathfinder and replacing it with Spec Ops.”

The Spec Ops training path is a nod to the stealthy, explosive-focused class last seen in Battlefield 2.

The training will feature the following:

  • Spec Ops 0: Your base class training, available from the start and allows quieter takedowns, crouch and prone movement
  • Spec Ops 1: Spots nearby enemy gadgets (except when sprinting)
  • Spec Ops 2: Going prone takes you out of combat much more quickly and removes the spot on self
