Ahead of its full launch on October 10, Battlefield 6 has made a major change to the controversial spotting mechanic, but many fans are still calling for further adjustments before the shooter’s release. While Battlefield 6 is already considered a significant step up from its 2021 predecessor, the community still has some major adjustments it wants to see implemented over the next few weeks.
Changes to the game’s spotting markers are high up the list of things Battlefield 6 players want to see changed, but the community was also quick to call for movement nerfs after the first open beta weekend last month. The cries of the community were heard loud and clear by developer Battlefield Studios, which announced that it would adjust movement mechanics to create “a more balanced and traditional Battlefield experience.” The developer stated that momentum carried from a slide into a jump has been reduced, and there will now be a greater penalty for consecutive jumps, which lowers the jump height when performed consecutively.
Battlefield 6 Makes Big Change to Spotting Markers
With the game’s movement features having been addressed, players quickly moved their attention to Battlefield 6‘s overpowered spotting feature. Last week, developer Matthew Nickerson stated that it would be nerfed in time for the full release, specifically noting that its overall range would be reduced so players wouldn’t just be “shooting at Doritos.” Now it seems the studio has implemented a slightly different change as well, and while fans are incredibly happy about it, some are still eager to see the overall size of the markers reduced too. In a new post on Reddit, a user showcased how the shooter now has a hollow marker for when an enemy has not been spotted, a change fans had previously called for.
Unfortunately, some questioned the purpose of this change and called for the studio to remove the markers altogether for enemies who haven’t been spotted. “Why does this matter? There’s still a huge box over their heads. How about we not have a box at all for enemies that haven’t been spotted…” Reddit user MysticMarauder69 said. Others seemingly agree that more changes to Battlefield 6‘s spotting mechanic need to be implemented. “Having that huge box just by looking in their direction is what’s making the game feel so fast paced, since there’s no perceived danger anymore of having to actually spot them with your eyes,” user BrokenSil said.
The next entry in the Battlefield series is shaping up to be its biggest yet, but EA shared some unfortunate news this week when it clarified previous comments surrounding console-only crossplay in Battlefield 6. Initially, a developer from Battlefield Studios stated that Xbox and PlayStation users would still be able to matchmake together when crossplay is turned off, but EA has said that’s not the case. Once crossplay is turned off, PlayStation players will only be placed into lobbies with other users on the same console, and the same for Xbox users.
