Best location to Slay Kranodath in the Basin

When it comes time to Slay 6 Kranodath for the Mark of the Kranodath optional quest in Monster Hunter Wilds, the best location to find them is in and around Region 12 in the Basin area. There are several different altitude locations in which the Kranodath can be found roaming around Region 12 in the Basin.

If you have your map oriented in the right direction, Region 12 is in the northwestern side of the Basin, a more wide-open area with different terrain levels.

The Kranodath look like velociraptors, with a big frill around their head area. You need to slay 6 Kranodath in total for the Mark of the Kranodath quest, and they typically travel in groups of three. This means you’ll need to find two separate groups of them for the quest, but that shouldn’t be an issue as they are plentifully available in the area. They are considered Bird Wyverns and can be found in the oil basin area hunting Gelidron.

After slaying the Kranodath required for this quest, make sure you harvest the carcass. The Kranodath has five total Low Rank Materials rewards that can be acquired from them, including:

  • Charred Oilbone (Target Reward: 20%)
  • Kranodath Skull (Target Reward: 30%, Carving: 75%)
  • Krano Copper (Dropped: 100%)
  • Sharp Fang (Target Reward: 30%, Carving: 25%)
  • Dragonite Ore (Target: 20%)

Because the Kranodath can drop Krano Copper on the ground when attacked, make sure you check the area before moving on to loot this valuable resource that it used for crafting various Decorations.
