Best Lucario ex Pokémon TCG Pocket deck

Lucario ex is probably one of the best Fighting-type cards to join Pokémon TCG Pocket since launch and with it, we finally have an answer to all those pesky Dark-type decks running around.

Lucario ex is a pretty solid deck to build around and has the potential to be a top-tier deck, it only relies on Fighting-type energy, but it is definitely not a deck for free-to-play players to build as you’ll need to pull some pretty hard-to-find and rare cards.

It’s easy to play though if you get the right stuff, so let’s run you through what you need to build it and how it works.

Best Lucario ex deck list in Pokémon TCG Pocket

The Lucario deck mainly utilizes a mix of Lucario and Lucario ex to maximize the amount of damage your Fighting-type Pokémon can do. It does feel a bit bloated with Lucario cards though, so if you want to reduce the amount down to one that works best. The trainer cards are also subjective, but a mix of Sabrina and Cyrus helps you to switch in a pesky backline or take out a retreating Pokémon in certain situations.

Some potential tweaks you can make to the deck list above include:

• Taking out one Lucario or one Lucario ex, but you run the risk of not having the firepower you need.
• Add in an Iono if you’re worried your draw power isn’t great to give you a hand reset when you need a specific card, removing a Red.
• Switch out Sudowoodo and Marshadow for Marowak for full-on damage, though its pretty inconsistent.

Once you find a variant that works for you, we can now go into why this deck works so well.

Lucario ex is made to be a quick glass cannon deck, with Lucario ex leading the frontline while regular Lucario sits in the backline increases the amount of damage you can deal to get over some pesky cards like Pikachu ex, Charizard ex, etc. Lucario ex also has the added bonus of being able to deal 30 damage to the backline to chip away at your opponent’s waiting Pokémon.

The major downside to the deck though is the Energy requirements and the lack of cards that exist for Fighting-type Pokémon to get more Energy onto your Pokémon like Water, etc, decks get. Its also incredibly weak against Psychic decks like Giratina ex and Mewtwo ex which are top tier currently, so it might not be something to take into ranked.

You’re basically relying on pulling a perfect hand or few cards to setup quicker than your opponent, so take on the deck at your own risk. It’s great for casual though, as well as clearing up solo play challenges.
